GOODREADS SYNOPSIS

Under the Never Sky

Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

MY REVIEW

Under the Never Sky

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review.

Aria has never been on the outside where the Aether storm that destroyed the earth are still raging. Aria lives in a pod, the enclosed city of Reverie, a world where almost nothing is real. Aria is what the people who live in the outside world call a dweller. Aria and everyone else that live in the futuristic world of the pods call the people who live on the outside, who were not as fortunate as they were, savages or outsiders.

When Aria and some of her friends cut themselves off from the realms and the others in the pods and go outside. Aria is witness to two of her friends being murdered and the guy that killed her friends is the son of one of the men who run Reverie. To keep his son from being punished and taking responsibility for his crimes Aria is sent out of the pod to fend for herself in the outside world which they also call The Death Shop.

Aria never having been outside in the real world with the violent Aether storms taking place almost all the time has no clue as how to survive. She has never seen a tree, bird, snow or even a rock before and is very enthusiastic about everything she sees. She wants to touch it to see what it feels like.

On the outside Aria meets Perry whom she believes is a savage, someone who is riddled with disease. Right away Aria and Perry dislike each other greatly. How could they like each other with all that they have been taught about the other? Neither one of them has ever stopped to think that just because they are different it doesn't make them bad people. But it is all they know. What they have been taught by their elders is all the knowledge they have of each other. They have been taught to hate anyone that is not like them.

But they each find out real quick that they need each other to get what they want. Aria wants to go back to her home in the pods and needs Perry to survive in a world that she has never seen before. Perry needs Aria to help him get his nephew Talon back who was taken by Aria's people. In the beginning they can't stand each other but as time goes on and they spend more and more time together they each discover that just because they are different they are both still good people and have a lot of love and care in their hearts.

What I really liked about Under the Never Sky was that it had two different worlds. One world where people live in like a futuristic world and then others lived as if they had gone back to the days where there was no electricity, gas, stoves or refrigerators. They lived off the land as they did many, many years ago. I liked how that Veronica showed that just because people are different they could still live together and love one another the same. Under the Never Sky is one of those books that will still be with you for a very long time after close the book on the last page. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series Through the Ever Night.
