Blurb:

Lucifer is fed up with humanity. He created hell to deter evil, but man’s inhumanity is only escalating. He just wants to return home to heaven, but ever since that little problem in the Garden of Eden, the Pearly Gates remain firmly shut to him. It doesn’t help that he’s the first vampire, an abomination in God’s sight.

Fortunately, two thousand years ago Lucifer’s estranged brother, Jesus, gave him a prophecy. To fulfill it, all Lucifer has to do is find the right artist, study her artwork and the path back to heaven will be revealed. The artist even bears a symbol so he knows who she is. Too bad she is murdered every time he finds her.

Janie’s a frustrated artist and college art teacher who wants two things—a guy she can show her paintings to and a night without nightmares. Each nightmare plagues her until she paints it. She doesn’t realize these paintings are key to unlocking her destiny, one that could redeem the original fallen angel.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from author for my honest opinion.

Lucifer visited Eve Adam's wife in the Garden of Eden and fell in love with her. Lucifer didn't like Adam he was kind of mean to Eve. When God threw Lucifer out of Heaven because of the things that he had done like temp Adam's wife Eve. After God threw Lucifer out of Heaven he made him the first vampire. Lucifer was determined to win his way back into Heaven. His brother Jesus told him of a prophecy that would allow him to return to Heaven. All he had to do was to find an artist and she would be his way of getting back into Heaven. This artist that he was looking for was his soulmate Eve. He chased after her through the generations but every time he found her she would die.

Janie was the artist that Lucifer had been looking for all these years. He was determined to keep her alive this go around at least long enough so that he could return to Heaven. When Lucifer went to Earth he change his name to Luke and demanded that he be called Luke from here on out. Janie was Luke's way of getting back into Heaven. Janie had nightmares all of her life and the only way that she could get any piece from her nightmares was to paint what she had dreamed. When Luke saw her paintings he knew that they were his way back to Heaven. He just had to figure out what each painting was telling him. Janie was attracted to Luke and couldn't figure out what it was that drew her to him. She fought her feelings for Luke but eventually she had to give in to what she was feeling for him. When she found out who and what he was she didn't want anything to do with him at first but you can't fight love.

I enjoyed reading the different interpretation of Jesus, Adam, Eve and Lucifer and who they were. I liked that Lucifer was not made out to be the bad guy in The Mark of Abel. I love reading stories where you get someone else's point of view of the bible. So in The Mark of Abel I would be team Lucifer. Lucifer or Luke as he likes to be called now wasn't such a bad guy. He took Adam's first wife Lilith in and married her and gave her a home. He gave her a job that she very much enjoyed doing. Lucifer and Lilith had two children together a boy and a girl. If you like reading about the people in the bible but with a twist to them that is a long the paranormal route then I suggest that you read The Mark of Abel.
