Blurb:

"Saving him meant saving her colony…"

Lyra Bryan has been saving people her whole life from a chick in the ventilation pipes to her mentally ill brother when his mind drifts back to Old Earth. She meets her match when she finds a gorgeous alien man aboard the arachnid ship. Captured after a failed attempt to save his people, his spirit is broken, craving only vengeance. To save her colony, Lyra must save his body and soul.

Lyra's lifemate, Tauren, is jealous of her obsession with the alien man and will do anything in his power to break them apart. While they travel to the arachnid's home world to defeat the mother brain once and for all, they must set aside their differences and work as a team. But, can Tauren be trusted?

Excerpt:

I stood before the portal to the science labs, scraping the plastic screen of my wrist locator with my fingernails. How was I going to sneak back in without Dr. Catcher seeing me? Her name didn't bode well for my predicament.

Crophaven had given me a reprieve by not reporting me to the authorities, but if I couldn't get past Dr. Catcher, then his uncharacteristically generous oversight would be for naught.

Using my wrist locator, I texted Alcor. Need a diversion to get back in. Two seconds later, my wrist beeped. I'm on it.

Not much to go on. I leaned against the wall and squished my rubber sole into the chrome until it squeaked.

Guilt soiled my conscience. Crophaven had let me off easy because of my pairing with Tauren. Even if I still wanted to be with him, I couldn't use my connections to get myself out of trouble. That was just plain sleazy. I had to break it off with Tauren, pronto.

The portal dematerialized beside me, and I jerked to attention, not knowing what to expect.

Alcor stepped out, holding a blinking device. "I'm getting better reception out here."

"What?" I whispered before I realized he wasn't talking to me.

Once Alcor walked past the frame, he signaled to me to follow him back in. "Oh, wait. Maybe not. Guess I'll have to try the lab again."

I snuck into the lab behind him and darted behind a container. Peering around the side, I looked for a clear path to the back room where I should have been doing experiments all day. Dr. Catcher sat at a table, her eyes glued to the microscope. "Any luck?"

"I have what I need." Alcor pressed the panel, and the portal to our private lab dematerialized. Crawling on all fours, I slipped in ahead of him.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Lyra Bryan has been saving lost souls all of her life and now she wants to and has to save the alien that is a survivor like herself from the arachnids' ship. Lyra has been the only one that can help her brother Leo comes back to the present after a visit to the past on Old Earth. Lyra and her family have kept Leo's mental illness a secret as much as they could. But Lyra always manages to bring him back. Lyra has a great big heart and wants to save everyone but she can't save everyone but she tries. It is not in her heart to just walk away from the alien and not help him. Lyra and the alien, Asteran were both captives of the arachnids until Nova saved them.

The arachnids are giant alien spiders that came to Paradise 21 to take all of the humans back to their home planet as food for the queen of the arachnids. Asteran is the only survivor from his home planet. The arachnids attacked his planet and he was the only to survive thanks to Nova. When Asteran finally wakes up he tells Lyra that their planet is in danger. The arachnids will come to their planet and attack them just like they did his planet. Lyra tries to warn Commander Crophaven. She tells him that they need to go to the alien spider's planet and kill the queen spider in order to save their colony but the commander says they can't do that. They will have to wait for the arachnids to come to them. But Lyra and Asteran have other plans in the making.

Lyra is attracted to Asteran with his golden skin color and his cobalt blue hair. His body is to die for with muscles for days. Not that she peeped under the sheet while he was unconscious or anything. Ha Ha! What woman wouldn't peep if they found their selves in the same predicament as Lyra? Women as well as Men are gonna look at a beautiful person if and when given the chance. All men and women can recognize beauty I mean they are not blind not matter what they may say.

Lyra's lifemate is jealous of Asteran but I image that he is not the only one he is jealous of. Her lifemate Tauren thinks that Lyra should do what he says and she should also believe and think like he does. Lyra doesn't want to be Tauren's lifemate but hasn't found the right time to tell him. Even though she doesn't love him and under no circumstance does she want to spend the rest of her life with him she is having a hard time letting him in on that fact because she never wants to hurt anyone no matter what kind of person they are or what they have done to her.

After discussing with the commander the intentions of the arachnids and not getting the support she needs to save her colony. Lyra takes matters into her own hands with the help of Nova, Asteran, and her brother Leo to do whatever it takes to save their colony from the arachnids.

I have really and truly loved reading the Paradise Reclaimed series and am really looking forward to reading more about the people on Paradise 21. Aubrie Dionne knows how to capture your attention from the first page of the first book or from any book she has written. I love reading about aliens, spaceships, planets and colonies. Aubrie Dionne is one of those authors that you don't have to read the summary of her books to know that it is going to be good. She is like Stephen King meaning that no matter what genre she writes in you know it is going to be a #1 hit. I have loved every book that I have read by her and I don't know which one is my favorite. But I guess since I am a horror freak I would have to say that her science fiction, dystopian books about the planet Paradise 21 are my favorite. That includes the Paradise Reclaimed series and the A New Dawn Series as well. Although I have not finished the A New Dawn series as of yet but I definitely plan on it.

I can't wait to find out more about Lyra and Asteran if they end up together and how Tauren actually accepts her rejection of him. Does he try to get revenge? Will they be a part two of Alliance? Or will the next book be about other characters in the series? I would like to learn more about Lyra and Asteran's relationship but I love all of the characters in this series. Hopefully we will get to continue following the colony on Paradise 21. And if you have not read the Paradise Reclaimed series or the A New Dawn series then I highly recommend both series.
