The origins of Judeo-Christian religion and mythology come together in this mature science fiction page-turner.

To combat overpopulation on the planet Orion, the government releases a birth control virus to keep women from becoming pregnant. Only the brightest and most attractive of their species are allowed to mate. But the virus rages out of control, killing both mother and child. Attempts to develop a cure fail. They only have one option left: search other worlds for advanced societies that may be able to help.

The two most intelligent minds on Orion—and former best friends—Lucifer and Zues band together to search for a secret planet. When they finally arrive, they are greeted with unexplainable death and destruction. This planet is not the answer. Something doesn’t add up. They discover an extra unknown planet in the solar system.

The new planet is covered in lush land masses and bodies of water. Different species of hominids run—and mate—freely. Fire-breathing dragons guard the land. Lucifer is determined to figure out who or what created this planet. He thinks it just might be the key to saving Orion and the Orionites.

My Review:

On the planet Orion the government released a birth control virus to help prevent the planet from becoming over populated and allowing only the smartest and the best looking ones to be impregnated resulting in mother and child both dying. Orionites tried to find a cure for the virus but without any luck.

The Orionites find another planet so King Osiris sends their best men Lucifer and Zues in search of this new planet hoping to find someone out there that may be able to help them find a cure for the virus. But when they arrive at the new planet they find the planet is gone. But luckily they spot another planet in the solar system.

On this new planet they find life, a different species of hominids that mate freely and run around with no clothes on. They also find fire breathing dragons that from the looks of things are protecting something on the planet and Lucifer has every intention of finding out just what it is they are protecting. They give this new planet the name of Terra Firma and it has lots of green grass and large bodies of water.

When I read the summary for In the Beginning I knew I had to read it although I didn’t think it was actually my kind of book but I had to give it a shot. I am so glad that I did give it a try because it was definitely my kind of book. I enjoyed it tremendously. In the Beginning will take you to places no one has gone before. It is a mixture of mythology and Christianity.

I think my favorite character was Lucifer. Why? Well because Lucifer was always in search of knowledge and of the truth. He was always thinking and calculating trying to figure something out. He seemed like a great man and person. He loved his wife Eden very much. He also loved his daughter Eve a lot too. He lost his Eden and Eve a long time ago. But he did have his son Abidon whom he loved very much as well and would do anything for. Abidon is a very great human being as well with the sacrifice he made.

My other favorite character was Behemoth, a great big giant of a man with a heart as big as he is and was not afraid to shed a tear.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mythology or a good science fiction, fantasy book.

BCE is originally from parts unknown and currently resides in areas of the planet yet to be explored. His favorite pastime is reading old encyclopedias while eating Peanut M&M’s. He does believe that the warehouse depicted at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark actually exists.
