LeKrista never thought Roman would kidnap her, but it seems there's no depth to which he won't stoop. She's stuck in a fortress in the middle of only God knows where with no way to contact her family or her new fiance and let them know she's alright.

To add insult to injury, Roman has brought her arch nemesis to keep her company. Forced to make friends with Eddy, the man who has made her life miserable for years, she bides her time until a rescue can be arranged.

But unrealized feelings for her vampire captor make things complicated. Or perhaps it's Stockholm Syndrome. She can't really be sure.

Just to make matters worse, the vampires are ready to go through with their plan to rule the world with an iron fang, and once again, she's caught in the middle of the war for power. The truth of her involvement is becoming clear, but she may lose more than her freedom in her quest to stop the the powerful undead on her own.

Excerpt-

I think Roman was literally dead to the world when I woke the next morning. He was pasty white, unmoving, not breathing. His arms around me were cold and stiff.

Maybe it's a vampire sleep thing. They don't need to breathe when they sleep.

I rose up on one elbow and stared down at him, holding my own breath as I waited for him to breathe. Before long, my lungs screamed for air and I couldn't deny them the oxygen they so needed.

I touched his face, tracing a finger down from his temple to his jaw. Compared to last night, his skin was cold and hard, maybe because he needed to feed. I traced his chin and lips.

Fingers wrapped around my wrist and teeth clamped gently down on my fingers. I gasped, startled at the sudden movement. I hadn't even seen it coming. Roman's eyes opened, but it was like he didn't recognize me at first.

"Tell me why I agreed to this again?" His voice was deep and thick.

"Because Cynric-"

"Ah, yes. No need to speak of it. How are you this morning?"

"I'm okay. I think."

Roman grinned, flashing so much fang that my jaw dropped.

"You have never seen me first thing in the morning," he said. "I forgot what a shock it would be for you. I am simply irresistible before I feed."

"And ten times more charmingly arrogant than when you're trying to be a good little boy."

"There is nothing little about me." He pressed his hips up. I was leaning over him so that he pressed against my hip. "Not even before I feed."

"Yes, I see that. Wow. Uhm…"

The door opened.

"Not what I expected," Eddy said from the doorway. "Not what I expected at all. I'm telling Pierce."

"Edgar, I will kill you!" I shouted.

Book Soundtrack--

The perfect soundtrack for Conquered would be anything that sounds like Skillet. Most of their music is what I listen to when I'm writing this series. Their music is dark and hard and hopeful and that's how I feel about these books.

An Interview with Tyffani Clark Kemp-

What inspired you to write Conquered?

It's the third book in the series, and quite honestly, it's not what it was SUPPOSED to be, but these books ever are. Book two took me somewhere I hadn't intended. It ended with the kidnapping of my main character and book three is about her during her kidnapping, but it's not what it seems.

When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I was eleven when I started writing seriously.

What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

Oh goodness. I have no idea. I do remember when I was younger, my grandparents read to me every single night. I think that was integral in my development.

What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

Sci fi, fantasy, paranormal. Sci fi is my first love.

What is your favorite book?

I hate this question. I always say The Princess by Lori Wick, but I think I will change it up and say A Long, Fatal Love Chase by Louisa May Alcott.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Hm… Ted Dekker has always been one of my favorites. His work is just so amazing to me.

If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

Victorian England...because it was all steampunk then...right? Right?

When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Usually it comes very easily for me, but that doesn't mean it's not hard work. It's mentally and emotionally draining and when your imaginary friends aren't talking to you it can be kind of miserable.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

I have two dogs. =) Both mutts. One is 8 and one is 1 and I love my fur babies.

What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

It depends on my mood at the moment. I would love someone to make chocolate covered sour punch straws and chocolate covered sour patch kids. I think I might die if that happened.

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Don't give up. When you get to the middle of your first book and it's hard and you're tired and you feel like it's shit and you're shit and what the hell is this shit?! Keep going, because when you get to the end you'll never be the same person again. You'll never write a book the same way again, because you're no longer a beginner. You're an accomplished writer.

About the Author-

Tyffani Clark Kemp has been writing since she discovered in the sixth grade that it wasn't enough just to read about fantastic places, but she could create her own. She weaves small bits of herself into everything she writes whether it be a science fiction piece about aliens or a dramatic romance fraught with conflict and love. She lives in South Carolina with her family and her fluffy shii tzu-mix dog who thinks he's a Saint Bernard.
