Blog Tour + Review + #Giveaway: Just Like You Said it Would Be by C.K. Kelly Martin @CKKellyMartin @XpressoTours

Just Like You Said it Would Be
C.K. Kelly Martin
Publication date: February 15th 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Did you ever want something so much that it felt like a kind of sickness, one you didn’t want to be cured of? On New Year’s Eve the feeling compels seventeen-year-old Amira to text the Irish ex-boyfriend she’s been missing desperately since they broke up at the end of summer, when she returned to Canada.

They agreed they wouldn’t be friends, that it would never be enough. But that was then— back when Amira’s separated parents had shipped her off to relatives in Dublin for the summer so they could test-drive the idea of getting back together on a long haul cruise. Back when Amira was torn away from a friend in need in Toronto only to fall in love with a Dublin screenwriting class and take a step closer to her dream career. And only to fall for cousin Zoey’s bandmate, Darragh, the guy who is first her friend, then her enemy and later something much more complicated—the guy she can say anything to, the guy who makes every inch of her feel wide awake in a way she hadn’t known was possible. The guy she might never see again. Or is there, despite the distance, somehow still a chance for them?

My Review:

Amira’s parents decide to take a cruise in order to see if they could patch up their relationship/marriage before they call it quits. So they send Amira to Ireland to spend the summer with her Aunt and Uncle and her cousin Zoey. Of course Amira doesn’t want to go to Ireland to stay with people she has only seen a few times in her life she wants to stay at home with her friend Joss in Canada. Besides Joss’ brother is on trial for dui and hitting a woman and Amira wants to be there for her.

While in Ireland Amira meets Darragh a member of Zoey’s band. Amira likes Darragh from the beginning but she knows they can never be a couple since she sees him kissing a different girl almost every weekend. Darragh’s relationships are kind of complicated which he has a hard time dealing with as he has a great big heart.

Darragh’s relationships with other girls is not their only problem as Amira is only seventeen and her parents will not let her date Darragh when she returns home. Amira doesn’t want to have a long distance relationship anyways as she doesn’t think it would ever work out and it would be too hard.

Amira is a very mature girl in lots of ways as she does abide by her parent’s wishes to not see Darragh when she returns home. I mean she could have told Darragh to come visit her and she would sneak out some how to see him but she didn’t and she also knew that it would be hard on both of them living so far apart to have a relationship.

But what I don’t get is why they didn’t discuss the fact that she would be eighteen in year and then she could legally do as she wished and would need her parent’s permission? I mean at eighteen she could walk into a bar legally order an alcoholic beverage so why could she not date who she wanted?

When I read the summary of Just Like You Said it Would Be I knew I had to read it and I wasn’t disappointed. I am so glad I decided to take the plunge and dived right in. Just Like You Said it Would Be was the perfect example of a coming of age story. If you like to read about teenage love and coming of age stories then you will love Just Like You Said it Would Be.

Author Bio:
Long before I was an author I was a fan of books about Winnie the Pooh, Babar, Madeline, Anne Shirley and anything by Judy Blume. Throughout high school my favourite class was English. No surprise, then, that most of my time spent at York University in Toronto was as an English major--not the traditional way to graduate with a B.A. in Film Studies but a fine way to get a general arts education.

After getting my film studies degree I headed for Dublin, Ireland and spent the majority of the nineties there in forgettable jobs meeting unforgettable people and enjoying the buzz. I always thoughts I'd get around to writing in earnest eventually and I began writing my first novel in a flat in Dublin and finished it in a Toronto suburb. By then I'd discovered that writing about young characters felt the freshest and most exciting to me. You have most of your life to be an adult but you only grow up once.
Currently residing near Toronto with my Dub husband, I became an Irish citizen in 2001 and continue to visit Dublin as often as I can. My first young adult book, I Know It's Over, came out with Random House in September 2008 and was followed by One Lonely Degree, The Lighter Side of Life and Death, My Beating Teenage Heart and Yesterday. I released Yesterday's sequel, Tomorrow, in 2013 and put out my first adult novel, Come See About Me, as an ebook in June 2012. My most recent YA book, The Sweetest Thing You Can Sing, was published by Cormorant Books' Dancing Cat Books imprint in 2014 and I'm pleased to announce they'll be releasing my upcoming contemporary young adult novel, Delicate, on September 16th. Book Tour + #Giveaway: Wolf by Crimson Syn @CrimsonSyn82 @SDSXXTours

Wolf
A Hell's Lovers MC Romance #1
by Crimson Syn
Genre: Adult MC Romance

Scarlett Chase is every man’s wet dream.
As soon as I laid eyes on her, I knew she’d be mine.
That is, until I found out she was untouchable.
One kiss, one forbidden touch, will have me out on the streets and stripped of who I am.
Yet I want her. I need her. And I’m done following all these damn rules.

Wolf Stone is my obsession.
Ever since he pulled over on that empty road, I’ve been tormented by the man.
His possessive words and heated looks have me tightly wound.
One touch, and he lights me on fire.
But I want more.
I not only want him in my bed, I want to keep him for myself.
But he won’t budge, and now it’s up to me to entice his sleeping wolf.

If there ever existed a true, predatory alpha male, then Wolf Stone was it. The son of a bitch was sinfully hot and he knew it. Arrogant, dominating, and as the leader of Hell's Lovers, he was ultimately dangerous. So, how the hell did a girl like me get involved with such a dark soul?

I'm his lawyer. His go to girl. The one who gives him all the advice he needs when he's making any business deal on his club.

I met him a year ago. I was broken down on the side of the road when the revving of a Harley caught my attention. How did I knew it was a Harley, you ask? My Dad. He had one when I was growing up. I'll never forget the roaring of its engine as it came down the road.

I took my chances and ran out, trying to wave the person down. I regretted it the instant he pulled over. He was tall, broad shouldered, and built. Oh my God, was he built. He was wearing a black leather jacket and dark washed jeans. His boot heels made a distinct clicking sound as he approached me.

"You havin' troubles?"

His voice had a rich rumble that made me nearly drop to my knees. You may not believe me, but the man dripped sex. He stood there staring at me, looking all male and perfect. I was crazy to be attracted to him, but I couldn't help it, my body trembled with need at the sight of him. I lost my voice as he took his aviators off. His face wasn't handsome. It was manly, a rugged jawline, thick lips, and the clearest set of blue eyes that competed with the clearest of skies. He ran a hand through his jet-black locks and I was fixated. The man was about to become my obsession.

"Are you alright?" He asked, and I tried to snap out of my trance. I was grateful for my sunglasses that covered my features as I checked him out.

"Um, I think my radiator blew."

"Damn." He mumbled and bent under the hood. He moved around some cables and grimaced. "Yup. Looks like it ruptured. You're not gonna be going anywhere for a while."

"Shit." I ran my hands through my brown wavy hair, which was probably a windblown mess. He looked at me then and I could feel his eyes trail up my bare legs and pencil skirt, roaming up my shirt and lingering on my breasts. His heated gaze almost made me melt.

"You need a ride?" his voice rumbled as he continued to stare at my body.

I should have been disgusted by his blazen disregard for propriety, but instead I felt my inner core gush with arousal.

Looking down at my outfit, and then at the bike, I realized there was no way this skirt would open wide enough for me to straddle that monster, meaning the bike of course.

He smirked and walked towards me. "I can help you with that." He pointed at my skirt.

"Oh." I half breathed as he came up to me. I can smell leather and a woody spice I couldn't quite decipher, but it was intoxicating.

"I mean…if you want me too."

"I…I have a meeting in thirty minutes… in the city."

He stared down at my legs. "Hmmm. I don't think you'll like my idea, then."

"Oh? And what exactly did you have in mind."

He came closer and I could feel his breath on my forehead. He was tall, at least six feet, and he could easily consume my body. I should have been afraid, but a strange sense of wanting to be near him kept me grounded.

"Ripping that tight little skirt in half."

I looked up at him then, my eyes had gone wide in disbelief as he stared down at me, that sexy smirk pasted on his face.

"Wh…what!"

He chuckled. "Just the slit, gorgeous. So you could ride."

My eyebrows shot up, and something along the lines of relief traced with disappointment ran through me. "Oh."

For being a college graduate and a lawyer, this guy had literally rendered me speechless.

"So, do you want me to rip it?"

His voice was a low vibration that heated my insides to where all I could do was nod. I watched him kneel before me, and images of him lying between my legs made me slightly unsteady. I swayed and placed a hand on his shoulder. His hand shot up to my calf and the electric shock that went through my core had me stifling a groan. What the hell was wrong with me? I was a smart, independent woman. No man had ever had an effect on me like this one did.

"You alright, gorgeous?"

"Y…yes. Sorry, I haven't eaten."

"Then let's put you on that bike and get you somethin' to eat."

I felt, more than noticed, that his hand was lingering on my leg. Suddenly he let go and grabbed the edge of my skirt, where the slit split on the side of my thigh. He roughly tugged on it, tearing it apart. An involuntary whimper escaped my lips and I gripped him tighter. He lowered his head for a brief moment and then patted the back of my now naked thigh before standing up.

"All done."

I nodded, trying to disguise the lust that ran through me, but I could feel myself start blushing. Hoping he would think it was the heat from the sun, I quickly turned around and went to grab my purse. Leaning over the seat I caught a glance of him in the rearview mirror. He was blatantly staring at my ass while I was bent over the seat. I realized my skirt had slightly ridden up and the now, deep slit exposed my full thigh, right up to the seam of my panty line. I had a moment of wanting to entice him, and I did, gently swaying my hips. His reaction drenched my panties. His hand shot up to his bulge as he gave it a hard tug and then he turned around. The freak in me loved it, and feeling confident I locked the car door and walked up to him.

"Ready." I said, and handed him my briefcase. "Is there a place for this?"

"Yeah. Get on." He seemed short with me, but I didn't dare ask why.

He got on the bike and revved the engine up. I stood there, trying to figure out how to sit and then realized I had to scrunch my skirt up to be able to climb on.

"Hop on, gorgeous."

I stared at him and thought, what the hell. I watched him as I raised my skirt up and his eyebrows shot up. He turned his face forward and I smiled knowingly. Propping one leg over the seat I finally mounted the bike. I was so sensitive that the rumble of the engine and the heat from the seat nearly made me cum. He reached over and gave me a small helmet, then he tapped my knee and I gripped his waist. His scent was driving me crazy and I could feel the muscles in his back stretching as I pressed my chest to it. It was the most arousing ride I had ever been on.

The wind blew through my hair as we rode into the city and I didn't have a care in the world whether my skirt was torn, or my hair was a mess. I felt a freedom like no other. And best of all, I felt safe. Safe in the arms of this sexy stranger.

My name is Crimson Syn, not really, but what fun is it to use my real name. Instead I’ll use my inner goddess’ name, it’s much more fun that way. I grew up in New York City where I had a wonderful education, loving parents and awesome friends. What more could a girl ask for?
I started writing at the age of sixteen. The first romance I read was Stephanie Laurens’ Devil’s Bride. Since then I have been influenced by dozens of flourishing romance authors and even more dashing and daring rogues. I must say it, but Fifty Shades was not my first erotic romance, nor did it influence me to start writing them. If you’ve never read Mary Balogh, Elizabeth Hoyt, Lisa Kleypas, Bertrice Small or A.N. Roquelaure’s Sleeping Beauty trilogy, then you’re missing out. Those were my sweet introductions to erotic romance, and boy were they hot.

So here I am, after reading so many wonderful stories, I have too many sinful tales of my own not to share. I like my alphas rough and possessive, and I have no shame in saying it or writing it. I had delightfully wicked teachers growing up, their books took me to new worlds and brought me new loves. So, I want to do the same for you. I want to indulge my readers in those steamy reads that will send them into the arms of dangerous alphas and deliciously sexy rogues, without leaving the confines of their nice warm bed. If I am able to entice your inner goddesses, then I have done my job and I am satisfied.

EXCERPT:

Seconds later, the bartender set two matching drinks on the counter in front of the guy from the parking lot.

He wordlessly slid one of the glasses toward me. My eyes darted to his in surprise, and he shrugged. “You look thirsty.”

I picked up the glass with a grateful smile, and helped myself to a sip of the cool liquid. Jack and Coke—exactly what I wanted. He was observant. “Thank you.”
As he nodded, his eyes moved over my shoulder, in the general vicinity of Vivian. A small grin tugged at the corner of his lips. He glanced up at me briefly before giving undivided attention to his drink. “How’s your boyfriend?”

“Who? You mean the guy from earlier?”

“Well, I’m not talking about him.” His head nodded across the bar, where David was doing his best to catch the waitress’s attention. “That poor fucker doesn’t stand a chance, does he?”

“David is my friend,” I responded defensively. “And Kyle isn’t my boyfriend. You’re wrong on both counts.”

His eyes snapped to mine, then slowly lowered. Heat followed his gaze as it swept across my lips before settling on my neck. I was forced to sweep the hair off my shoulders in an attempt to cool off. It didn’t help.

He squinted at my neck like he considered devouring me right then and there. With the hot ball of lava tumbling through me, and ultimately settling in my core, I considered letting him. One look. That was all it took.

No guy had ever . . .

Oh, God. Vivian was totally right.

His mouth curved like he had read my thoughts. Then his hand shot out to mine as he stated, “Dylan.”

I accepted his hand with a smile. “Thea.”

His head angled closer to mine. “Thea?” When I nodded, he leaned back with a smirk. “Are you a librarian, or something?”

“What?” I demanded, suddenly on edge.

“Hot librarian,” he corrected with a lazy shrug, as if that somehow made his comment less insulting. At my unamused glare, he used his hand to cover the smile spreading across his face, and muttered, “I’m sorry. I don’t think I’ve ever met a Thea before. It’s, uh . . .”

“A librarian’s name, apparently,” I finished for him sourly.

He chuckled. “I like it, alright? I do. In fact, you’ve given me a new standard to associate with the name Thea. Next time I hear it, I won’t imagine a ninety-year-old librarian. I’ll picture you instead.”

He somehow made me like the sound of him thinking about me, despite the example he used. Some small, gullible part of me liked it. The rest of me reared back with revulsion.

“Need to picture me to get you through the night, huh?” I quipped.

His lips pursed as he considered my question. Then a broad grin turned his lips up. “Never really gone for a good girl before. Unless it’s an act . . .” His eyes swept down the length of me with obvious interest, and I folded my arms over my chest to interrupt his uncensored gaze. When he finally made it back to my eyes, he hooked an inquisitive brow.

“It’s not an act,” I stated firmly, “and I don’t play games.”

He shook his head at the counter, and muttered, “I didn’t think so.”

“Not like it would matter anyway.” My eyes lowered to his lap in mock consideration, then to the drink in front of him. “You’ve had so many of those, I doubt you could even play your part at this point.”

Dylan’s head rolled back as a deep laugh rumbled through him. I refused to acknowledge how sexy it sounded.

“First of all . . .” He lifted a finger in the air. “I’m always up to playing my part. Got it?” I kept my arms folded, my face unreadable, as he lifted another finger. “Secondly . . . I find it interesting that you know how much I’ve had to drink tonight.”

My arms slowly uncrossed under his amused and knowing gaze. His eyebrows shot up in silent inquiry, and when I offered no explanation, his grin broadened.

“I thought so.” With a flirty wink, he turned in his seat to face the bar.

Excerpt Tour + #Giveaway: A Staged Murder by Jo. A. Hiestand @GoddessFish

A Staged Murder
by Jo A. Hiestand
GENRE:  Mystery

BLURB:

Bonfire Night! The four hundred-year-old tradition of burning the straw effigy is beginning in Upper Kingsleigh, England. The torch extends… But it’s no mock figure at the end of the rope; it’s the body of a man, an American tourist. Brenna Taylor, Derbyshire C.I.D., is assigned to the case on a team of detectives under Detective-Chief Inspector Geoffrey Graham. It is the chance Brenna has been waiting for, and she is anxious to impress him.

Most villagers suspect an outsider as the killer. But when the frost-covered body of a resident is discovered, apprehension shifts and suspects multiply. Among them are the American's brother-in-law, still angry over his sister's death; the husband, who fears his wife will desert him for the American; the inebriated, penniless uncle, who clings to his nephew's fortune tighter than a cork in a wine bottle. Then Brenna becomes the target of a series of frightening pranks--the work of a harassing male colleague, or a deadly warning to leave the case? Her hunt is personal now.

Excerpt:

“Is that how you made sergeant grade?”

The question, though a joke, came from the sober lips of my friend, Margo Lynch. She was a constable, ten years my junior, and was learning from me as I was from Graham, though I was certain Margo was getting shortchanged.

We sat on a bench outside the pub, half-filled glasses in our hands, expounding on the world in general and the murder case in particular. I shivered as I took a swallow.

“Never mind the smart remarks,” I said. “What happened to your rose-colored glasses? You’re supposed to wear them when you look at me.”

“I take them off at sunset.”

“Great. I thought you wanted the benefit of my experience.”

“I do, Bren! I marvel at you.”

“You’ll make sergeant quicker than I did, Margo, if you avoid my bruises and mimic my laurels.”

“Will I know which is which?”

I glared at her, in no mood for humor. The hours were slipping away and I still had to talk with Graham before I got to bed. I finished my shandy. “Why am I laying my theories before you, then?”

“So you’ll hear them, find holes in them, and fix them before you recite them to Graham, who will, we both know, fillet you like a piece of cod and roast you for good measure if they aren’t reasonable.”

She stared at me, her dark eyes serious in the light from the pub’s windows. She had a good figure and a good mind, and really had no need of my tutelage, but it was great to have a friend. Confiding in Margo was like writing in my diary.

“He unnerves me at times,” I confessed, keeping my voice low.

“I think he unnerves all of us, Bren.”

Genres: Fantasy, Paranormal, Young Adult

*Now an audio book!*

Eighteen-year-old Myla Lewis is a girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. She’s not your everyday quasi-demon, half-demon, and half-human, girl. For the past five years, Myla has lived for the days she gets to fight in Purgatory’s arena. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter heaven or hell, they go up against her, and she has not lost a battle yet.

But as she starts her senior year at Purgatory High, the arena fights are not enough to keep her spirits up anymore. When the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it is not looking good for the quasi-demons. Myla starts to question everything, and does not like the answers she finds. What happened 17 years ago that turned the quasi-demons into slave labor? Why was her mom always so sad? And why won’t anyone tell her who her father is?

Things heat up when Myla meets Lincoln, the High Prince of the Thrax, a super sexy half-human and half-angel demon hunter. But what does a quasi-demon girl to do when she falls for a demon hunter? It’s a good thing that Myla is not afraid of breaking a few rules. With a love worth fighting for, Myla is going to shake up Purgatory.

Monster House Books is celebrating the launch of the audiobook version of the best seller Angelbound, both on iTunes & Audible! As a result, every launched book in the series is only $1.99, aka more than 50% off…And that includes Angelbound ACCA, which was only released a few months ago!

My Review:

Myla Lewis is an eighteen year old quasi demon; half demon and half human girl who loves to fight and gets to do exactly that in the arena in Purgatory where she happens to live. Myla fights souls that want a trial by combat to determine if they go to heaven or hell.

Myla is also a senior in high school. In her school they teach them how to obey their demon masters. Myla like most teens does not like school and is not upset at all when she is late or gets the chance to skip a day. But she will get in trouble if she is late but if she can sneak in without anyone of authority seeing her then everything is ok.

One day Myla is called to the arena but to her surprise it is not to fight. She is called there for a ceremony, an event. Something is not quite right in Purgatory, something bad is about to go down but what or when she has no clue but Myla is one to pay attention to details and what is going on around her, that is what makes her a good fighter. Without anyone saying a word she knows everyone is acting strange so that puts Myla on high alert.

On this day in the arena Myla meets Lincoln a high prince. Myla and Lincoln don’t get along from the first moment they lay eyes on each other. Yeah the sparks are flying and I don’t mean the romantic kind either no just the opposite. Although Myla and Lincoln don’t get along that doesn’t stop Myla’s body from acting up whenever her and Lincoln happen to touch one another. She tries to ignore it but that may turn out to be impossible. Myla and Lincoln are just acting the way society has taught them to act with him being a high prince and her; a slave. As a high prince he is taught that slaves are beneath them and are nothing more than animals; while Myla is taught to obey her masters.

I have to say that I loved the world that the author has created for Myla and her life in Purgatory with the demons, angels and half demons. Oh and I also loved how each one had their own little gift/curse of one of the seven deadly sins like envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride, sloth, and wrath and weaved them into the story line. I think Angelbound has a lot more to say than what is just on the surface.

I would like to recommend Angelbound to anyone who likes reading about demons and angles and who just loves a good story. I can’t wait to read more about Myla and Lincoln’s life together.
