Book Description:

The world is no longer the way we remember. Few are even still alive to recall the days when midnight didn't mean cowered away and hidden. Out of sight became our only way to survive since the Century Vampires. If you want to live, trust no one.

By 2125 the world had been overthrown by monsters dubbed Century Vampires. Some kind of mutation in the human genome gave rise to the first ones, or so the scientists suspected. Vamps spent the first one hundred years of their existence growing in number-some born, some turned-all deadly. They wreaked havoc for the past eighty-three years.

Vampires ruled the Earth now...

Century Vampires have only one rule: There are no rules.

Excerpt:

Chapter One:

Move your ass Mark!" Aura shouted from the mouth of the cave, where the rocks ended and the forest began-well, what was left of the forest after the constant brush-fires of a world gone awry.

"Just one more bomb. Those bastards are going to have a real awakening." Mark slammed his last homemade explosive against the cave wall. Searching the walls with his vigilant eyes one last time, he took note of the wrinkled skin hanging from the ceiling.

Like bats, the human vampires hung with feet clinging to the crevices. Their decrepit arms criss-crossed their chests, rejuvenating themselves. Well, that was what the humans called it, but how did they stick to the cave ceilings? Some humans speculated that vampire blood secreted some kind of sap through the pores of their skin. Others figured it was just pure evil that held them there.

"Let's go!" Aura shouted. Mark had a way of pushing himself to the edge. Aura wanted to make sure he didn't fall over it.

"One minute!" Mark yelled, staring at the cave walls. Aura watched his dark copper-brown, wavy hair move like the tide over his face as he just stood there.

Standing on the border between the outside world and the dark cavern, Mark wanted nothing more than to watch those blood-thirsty beasts burst all over the damp walls. Here inside this cave before midnight they looked like the monsters they were, the creatures that sucked the life from his sister Laura, the vamps that decapitated his parents. Vampires didn't appear beautiful until they turned and grew fangs at midnight. Then the deathly hallow their human bodies had become grew into something almost celestial and hypnotic-like, with unparalleled strength surging through their veins.

"We are running out of time! The vamps will be hunting soon!" Aura urged.

But Mark stood frozen, green eyes fixed on the bloodsuckers, his memory spinning. Aura dug her fingers and nails into his shoulders and spun him around to face her. "We're going now!" Aura's face filled with a hot red color, and after she shook him once he returned to her.

"I'm here, I'm going." He lunged away from the cave and grabbed Aura's palm in his. Racing across the fire beaten terrain, they had never moved faster. Wind hit their faces in a rush and their feet sunk into the soggy mud with each step forward.

Pop, Pop, Pop…Within seconds the cave imploded and went ablaze.

Bits of vamp flesh burned as it spattered across the barren forest. An arm limb nearly hit Mark in the head. The entire mission took nearly an hour to complete, the explosion just under a minute. The cave became rubble and debris shot everywhere.

"Won't be seeing those bloodsuckers again." Mark sounded proud, beads of sweat dripping down his cheeks.

"We still have to make it back to O-Tech-1." O-Tech-1 was code name for the basement of the abandoned church in Manhattan.

Aura tightened her grip on Mark's hand. "And you know a few of those mature vamps will be out hunting. Six to midnight is still not safe." Aura emphasized that point often. Mark may not mind missions from dusk to dark. Most vamps still needed rejuvenation then, but Aura didn't trust the dark. Vamp or no, the dark could be dangerous.

Besides she smelled the scent of something...someone following them for miles now. Someone familiar.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Aura met Mark two years ago and they have been together ever since. Mark and Aura live in a world where the vampires have taken over the world. They started with the people at the top of the line. Like the people who were in charge of the country and whose job it was too serve and protect the humans. They destroyed them for the most part but they would take thousands upon thousands and put them on like little farms and treat them and use them like humans use and treat animals. You know like cows, chickens, pigs ect.... Humans are their food their way of surviving and now the vamps have taken over the world. There are a few like Aura and Mark who have survived and fight the vamps almost every day just to stay alive or not to become one of their animals locked up so that the vamps can feed from them.

Mark is the only human that she trust and she is the only human that he trusts as well. Aura has other friends she has met since the vamps have taken over whom she can trust as well. Aura and Mark go visit these friends every few months or so to get supplies from them that they can't get anywhere else. These people care a lot for Aura and except Mark to keep her safe from the vamps.

I loved reading Midnight: Century of the Vampires. I loved the world that the author has created for the vamps and the fact that they are so very different than most vampires that you normally read about. I can't wait to read more about Aura, Mark, Aura's friends that live in the underground and all of the vamps too. Midnight: Century of the Vampires may be a short read but it has so much depth in it that you would think it was a full length novel. I only had one problem with it and that was because it was short.

Content Warning: contains adult language and explicit sex

Excerpt:

"I like it here…with you…in the kitchen." His words were enunciated slowly as she gripped the edge of the sink, pressing her back into the hardness…it was no good, she couldn't go back any further.

"Uh-huh." Daisy cleared her throat, trying to eradicate the huskiness present every time she'd spoken to him that morning.

Micah's eyes narrowed. "What's wrong, Daisy?"

"Nothing." She licked her lips.

"Yes, there is. Are you regretting last night?"

She swallowed, but her throat was bone dry. "Last night." She sucked in a breath as he stood in front of her and his hands landed on either side of her with a thud, coming to rest on the countertop.

"Have you got a boyfriend?"

She shook her head. "No."

"Keep it that way."

"Pardon me."

"Don't go looking for one…we have unfinished business."

She lifted her hands and pushed at his hard chest, which of course was a complete waste of time. "Now look here, you can't tell me what to do."

"Yes, I can." He kissed her hard, short, and succinct, and the power behind it made her knees tremble.

"No, you can't. If I want to go out and find a man, I will." She spoke defiantly with her chin held high, but it was lost in the fact that her chin only came up to his chest, and she had to strain further to look him in the eye. Her fingers tingled at the heat emanating from him. The smooth cotton of his shirt was soft to the touch, and his heartbeat was strong as the beat echoed against her fingertips.

"I don't think so."

"Excuse me." She pulled her head back and looked at him.

"Don't start thinking that you can bed someone else."

Her cheeks heated as she tried to push him away. "What the hell? You can't tell me who I can go to bed with…you hardly know me, and you most certainly don't have the right."

"After last night…you do want me, and if I hadn't stopped we would have been in that bed together. I would've made you forget whatever it is that has made you lose your confidence. You're one of the sexiest, most beautiful women I've ever met, and when I do what I have to…I'm going to show you exactly how much I really want you."

"That's just arrogant."

His smile was slow and sexy, and she was pretty sure that had he not been holding her up she would've glided to the floor in a stream of unbridled lust. His hardness was pressed against her stomach.

"Arrogant?" He shook his head. "No, that's not justifying the way I feel, but I'm confident you feel the same way."

"You think so, huh?" When she'd offered him a bed last night he'd refused.

He kissed her again, a little slower this time. Their kisses were hotter than a sauna on a cold day. She could hear the baby in the background, but it was as if she was a distant voice.

He parted from her just enough to speak and she watched his lips move. They were sexy, and she had to push herself to listen to what he was saying.

"I have to fly out today. I have a meeting tomorrow I need to be at, but when Amy goes down for her nap, we need to talk. I need to tell you why I'm here."

She frowned as his words penetrated her sex-befuddled mind. "What do you mean why you're here? I thought it was something to do with a golf course?"

"Actually…that was a lie."

"I knew there was something not quite right about that. If a golf course was going to be built I would've known. Jeez, you can't sneeze on this island without everybody knowing before you've even finished." She narrowed her eyes. Something was definitely going on. She pushed him away, catching him off balance.

* * * *

The look of worry that crossed her features made Micah want to kick himself. He hadn't meant to say anything, but damn it all to hell, he didn't seem to have much control over anything when she was around, including speech. He was trained to take all kinds of torture and not say a word, and now he only had to look at her and he was like some dribbling teenager.

"Daisy, I'm-" Before he could get his words out the frantic tone of her voice stopped him.

"You're from them, aren't you?" She leaned over, lifted Amy up from her chair and wrapped her arms around the baby. "You can just go back and tell whoever it is you work for that I don't have it…zilch…zitto, and even if I did, you wouldn't get a dime from me."

Genre: Post-Apoc Romance
Length: 81,000 words

BLURB:

Hulking shadows emerge out of the chaotic flurries of the blizzard. Something is dying, and so they come, like vultures.

After months of struggling south to escape the zombie-infested remains of New York, a snowstorm traps 23-year old artist, Emily, and her son in an abandoned gas station. Starving and desperate, they encounter Aaron, an Army medic on a mission of his own, who offers them a ride to ease the journey.

The road is a long and dangerous place to travel, and every day brings a new threat. But fear and adrenaline also drive the two closer together; they find laughter and a budding attraction that starts to thaw at their numb and deadened feelings. And that's when the pain really starts to hit, when places long thought lost prickle back to life. Eventually, they will have to fight not just for survival, but for a future together, or their broken world will swallow them whole.

Excerpt:

“I dream of him dying over and over. Over and over they jump him and he disappears under their bodies for so long…” Emily opened her eyes, but stared ahead, wide eyed and holding her breath. “And I hate… I hate that he was alone at the end. I should have been there, but I… I left him alone. He was all alone.”

Aaron was quiet, and so she continued: “Song used to think he’d come later, you know, find us. I never had the heart to… to really say the word. I dunno. I guess I was jealous Song still had that hope. And every time I dream it, I want to be faster but… I’m never faster.”

“You’re not gonna be, Em.” He’d not picked up that he’d shortened her name, but it came out that way all the same. “It’s happened, and it’s horrible. And I can’t tell you the nightmares get better, but you can’t blame yourself, you know. That is never gonna help.”

“He really likes you,” she whispered then, unable to continue without feeling like her chest was torn apart. “Song, I mean.”

“I like him, too.” He smiled again, catching some of her tears with his thumb and wiping them down her cheek. “He’s a good kid. You got lucky, huh?”

“Oh yeah,” she smiled, wet and tired, but she leaned into his touch. “He must have come out like this, all beautiful and smart and perfect.”

“He’s lucky to have you, too, you know.”

She couldn’t agree with him, and wanted to wave away the compliment, but this time there was just a hint of a smile. “It’s good to have someone…” she whispered and without meaning to at first, her lips brushed over his wrist.

His hand froze in place, but just for a beat.

“Yeah, I think so.” He breathed out, the exhalation warm on her face, close again, and the kiss that followed it was less of a surprise to them both, than the one just a couple nights before. It was wet and sticky with her tears, if less so than before, and they eased into each other faster, harder. Emily cradled his large face in her small hands; they had always been calloused and rough from her work with hard materials, and now they were cracked and dry. They could be tender though, girl’s hands still.

It was likely the wrong time to be kissing, but there seemed no right time for anything, not anymore—and both of them were lonely and aching, and whatever small amount of connection a kiss afforded seemed like enough, in the cold clear of the night, hidden off the road.

Aaron didn’t push further, but, at the natural break, didn’t pull away, top lip resting on her bottom one, eyelashes clotted with the moisture from her cheeks. Her fingertips brushed over his jaw, found the stubble of this beard. Her hands were shaking and she held on tighter.

“I like you, too…” she whispered finally.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Emily and Song her son or more accurately her boyfriend's son but she calls him her son and he calls her Emmy. Emily has been taking care of Song since he was two years old when his mother brought him to Emily and her boyfriend and just left him with them. Emily loves and cares for Song as if he is her own child. She always has and always will. She will protect him with her life. Sullivan was bitten by a zombie; he gave his life so that Emily and Song could live. Sullivan was a musician and was hardly ever at home. Emily and Song miss him so, so much.

Just when they have just about made it to the end of their own road they meet this man who was a medic in the Army, Aaron. Aaron has been going around the country trying to help out different people who have made new homes in different places or their own homes, safe places hopefully away from the zombies. Aaron goes from place to place gathering up supplies that he thinks these people needs and he takes the supplies to them. Aaron takes Emily and Song with him.

Emily and Song both fall in love with Aaron and want him to stay with them and not leave. Song is so tired of everybody leaving him so it upsets him when he thinks Aaron is going to leave them and of course he blames Emmy. The one person that has been a constant in his life and the one he loves the most. He is hurting and being so young he doesn't know how to handle it. He has lost his dad and everyone he has ever known except Emmy. Emily is only twenty-three years old herself and is very young to be raising a child one her own much less a child that is not even hers. Emily is a very strong and mature woman to be able to take care of such a young child. You can just tell by the way she talks to and deals with Song that she has a very big heart with a whole lot of love to go around. She is so young herself to have gone through what she has experienced and felt. She loved Sullivan very much for someone so young.

Now Emily and Song have both fallen in love with Aaron and neither one of them are sure if they are going to get to keep him in their lives. Is he going to be just like Sullivan? Is he going to be gone most of the time and then maybe come by to see them when he is in town just to bring them the supplies they need? Can Aaron lay down his past and all that haunts him to stay with Emily and Song to be a family? Can they both stop running away long enough to have the love and life they both and all three deserve?

Want to know the answers to all of these questions? Well then I recommend that you grab your copy now to find out what they all decide to do. You will not be disappointed as I was not. I loved reading Emily, Song and Aaron's stories and about their lives and would like to know more about them. Although I do wish that there would have been more zombies and they would have had more zombies to have fought. But all in all I would have to say that After Life Lessons was a great read.

Within the walls of a centuries-old building lies the magical Library of Illumination, a place where books literally come to life. 17-year-old Johanna Charette is the youngest curator ever chosen to oversee the day-to-day operation of the library and she knows, in case of trouble, having an assistant can be invaluable, so she hires 16-year-old Jackson Roth to give her a hand. Jackson gets off to a rocky start, but manages to prove his mettle. Besides, he's kind of cute and a lot of fun.

Johanna is charming and brilliant-and a natural born leader. She keeps the library operating on an even keel. Jackson is clever and intrepid. He relies on his wits to keep them out of danger when trouble arises. Unfortunately, his derring-do is one of the reasons why they sometimes find themselves in awkward situations. So it shouldn't be any surprise when his wanton curiosity sparks a journey to a distant realm, where they end up with front row seats in a battle against an ancient foe.

EXCERPT

"What's this? Jackson asked, picking up a book that sat by itself on a bottom shelf. A thick layer of dust obscured the cover. "Did you leave this book down here?"

"What book?"

He opened the book to a random page to see what it was about. Dracula suddenly loomed over him, blood dripping from his mouth. "Uhhh ...!" Jackson's scream did not get past his throat.

Dracula moved in for the kill. The teen managed to slam the book shut just as the vampire's teeth made contact with his skin.

"What are you doing?" Johanna poked her head around the corner of the shelf and spotted the blood on Jackson's neck. She looked down and recognized the volume of Dracula by Bram Stoker and winced. "We must have missed that one. Are you all right?"

Jackson swiped at his neck.

"Come with me." Johanna led him to the circulation desk. She took out a first-aid kit and cleaned away the blood with an antiseptic wipe.

"Am I ...?"

"It's just a surface wound." She wrapped the bloody wipe in a tissue and threw it in the wastebasket. "You're going to live ... but not forever."

Jackson sighed with relief. "You know, when my mother used to patch me up, she would kiss it to make it better." He raised his eyebrows and grinned at her.

"If you got hurt working for Larry at Once A-Pawn A Time, would you ask him to kiss it to make it better?"

"You really know how to hurt me."

Johanna laughed. She leaned in and lightly kissed Jackson's neck.

He could feel the hairs along his nape tingle.

"All better?" she asked.

Jamie knows Mark is all wrong for her, but he's so damned hard to resist.

Jamie Shultzer's life is in a tailspin. Her husband has left her for another man, and to top it off, she's stranded on a desolate highway in the middle of Nebraska. The last thing she needs is another complication, especially when it shows up as the tall, sexy as hell, and much too young for her, Mark Adams. Though to be fair, he's only ten years too young, and she has to find some way to repay him for rescuing her.

Mark wants to be the good guy and leave Jamie alone. After all, her son is his friend and Jamie is in the middle of a divorce. But he's been smitten with her since the first time he laid eyes on her years ago. Now that she's available, it's hard to say no to her sweet tasting lips, and even harder to walk away from her willing body.

Is this the start of something wonderful, or a disaster in the making?

Content Warning: contains graphic sex and explicit language

Excerpt:

Jamie's car rolled to a stop by the curb in front of her home. Mark hopped out and started undoing the chains that he'd attached to the undercarriage of her vehicle. She got out of the truck and stared at the dark front porch. It looked so vacant and unwelcoming.

"Don't drive it until you fill it with coolant." Mark gave the hood of her car a pat. "Or at least water."

"Okay, where do I put said coolant or water?"

In the glow of her security light, Mark gave her a grin that could be called nothing less than dashing. Crooked, with the adorable dimple that she remembered when he'd made a brief appearance at her son's college graduation party. He walked past, a little too close, and his body brushed hers. He smelled of clean wet earth. The black t-shirt he wore fit the play of toned muscle beneath it to perfection. Jamie licked her lips; she'd like to approach him like a popsicle. Lick him head to toe and back up again.

They'd seemed to have shared a moment of chemistry while driving back to her place. She grasped onto the way Mark had looked at her. The way a man looks at a woman he desperately wants to kiss. Jamie couldn't remember the last time she'd experienced such a feeling. It'd been startling and she'd panicked.

Mark reached inside and popped the hood before walking to the front of her car.

"Come over here."

His voice was low, gravelly, seductive, and she floated toward his command like a moth to a flame. She'd come anywhere, and anytime, with him. Bad porn music started to play in her head. Bom chica wow wow.

She squeezed her eyes shut. Good God, she would be in the middle of a messy divorce soon, what the hell was wrong with her?

"You'll want to put it in here." He pointed to a part of the engine that looked like a square plastic container.

Her head was swimming; lack of oxygen most likely. Her blood had rushed south to her naughty regions.

"Okay." Her voice squeaked, and she cleared her throat.

"You don't want to fill it to the top, her unit can't take that. Just put it to here."

Oh, come on! The double entendres were killing her.

She couldn't help but notice his long, strong fingers. Long fingers might mean a long…

"Uh-huh, great." She bit into her top lip until it stung.

"So, that should be it." He dropped the hood and brushed his hands together. "Do you need anything else, Mrs. Shultzer?" It was an open-ended question on his part that left Jamie with way too many answers.

WILDE RIDERS is the first novel in a spicy new contemporary romance series about four sexy brothers, their small-town bar and their local country band. WILDE RIDERS can be read as a STAND ALONE NOVEL or as part of the SERIES.

Cooper Wilde spent his entire adolescence counting the days until he could escape rural northwest New Jersey. Now at 26, he can't believe he's coming back. But his late father's bar, Haymakers, is in financial trouble and his older brother, Jake, has asked for Cooper's help.

Riley Smith, 25, is fresh out of her Ivy League MBA program and wants to make an impression on her employer, H & C Bank. Her first solo assignment is a fraud investigation on a business loan they made to Haymakers.

Riley can't wait to do her business and get back to the city as quickly as her sports car will take her...until she meets Cooper Wilde. He's not like the other guys in this rural town and Riley feels inexplicably attracted to him.

Excerpt:

Lil stood firm, sword-in-hand, staring at the beast as it flew directly at her. "How do I kill it?" She raised the sword above her head with two hands.

Hudson glanced at her. "With what we taught you. The dragon is no different than a man."

"It has wings and is flying at me. I'd say it's different!"

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Lil has this strange dream that she had been transported to a different world, world that mirrored her own but was different in so many ways. In this new other world Lil meets her doppelganger Willow who has the ability to travel between the two worlds. The dream seems so real to Lil but everything that she has been taught tells her that this other world is not real.

But she meets this guy Rawlie who takes her to this other world. Rawlie is Willows boyfriend and he has brought Lil to their world to help him save Willow from this evil lady who has destroyed their world. Lil is not too happy at first about being kidnapped and brought to this other world they call Orenda but she has no choice but to stay until she can get one them to take her home or she can find a way back to her world. But before she can find a way back to her world she finds out that this evil woman has not only taken her doppelganger Willow hostage she has also taken Lil's best friend Bray hostage as well. And Lil will not leave Orenda until she can get Bray back and they can leave together.

Bray and Lil have been best friends for a very long time he just lives across the street from her so they have practically grown up together all their lives. When Lil is taken to Orenda she meets another guy Hudson whom makes her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Lil is not quite sure as to what these feelings are seeing how she has never had a boyfriend before. Hudson has some ahh warm feelings for Lil himself and knows exactly what they are. Hudson thinks that Bray is really Lil's boyfriend and that she is just pretending that he isn't but he finds out soon enough though.
