Excerpt:
Delaney held up a light pink sweater to her chest. "This is hideous. You have to trash this thing." She flung it behind her.

"Hey, I like that sweater." I dashed after it and then gave it a once over and agreed with her. It was something my mom had bought for me and it had Betty Homemaker written all over it with pearl buttons and a jacquard trim. I shoved it in the return-home bag. "I think coming back to the dorm will be good for both of us. When Raven's having a bad day, I can just come back here so he can have some time to himself. Time to process whatever he's going through."

And time to fight his demons.

"And you trust that he will be okay." She threw one of my skirts over her head. "He won't plunge off the edge and go back to where he was, will he?"

"I'll check on him. It's not like I won't see him. And if needed, you can take me to his apartment, right?"

"Yeah, of course."

"Who's apartment?" Raven stood in the doorway carrying my bags.

"Your apartment, silly." I smiled at him, trying to displace any unnecessary fear or jealously. Although Raven hadn't seemed liked the jealous type, I wanted to keep it that way. That was one less thing I didn't have to worry about in our relationship.

"Hey, what's this?" Delaney held up a pink and silver Victoria Secret's gift card.

"Where did you get that?" I said taking it from her hand.

"It was buried in your clothes." She pointed to the mound on my bed.

Raven looked over my shoulder as I opened the flap.

Have fun shopping with Raven. Love, Dad.

"Holy shit. Is he serious?" I looked at Raven and he smiled. Was my dad trying to make up for my mom going bat shit crazy and burning all the lingerie Raven had bought me?

Sweet.

"Damn!" Raven covered his mouth with his fist. "Three hundred bucks. We can buy you a lot of sexy stuff." Raven cocked a brow. "When are we going?"

"Whenever you want." I eyed him with a hungry stare. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to get enough of him.

Of his taste.

Of his touch.

Of his scent.

I was permanently caught in The Raven's trap. And I wondered if he was really done with setting out his bait and happy with the catch he'd caught. Time would only tell. I shook my head, trying to calm my ranging hormones.

"Is that it?" I asked, looking at the two bags by the door.

"What do you mean, is that it?" He huffed, gripping his waist. "I brought up like five bags. And there's still more at my apartment."

"I'm sorry." I walked past him and headed for the closet. "I didn't ask my dad to bring me all of my clothes."

"I know." He grabbed my hand and spun me around. I slammed against his body and rested my hands against his broad chest. "If you'd just stay with me, then we wouldn't have to be hauling all of your stuff back and forth."

His scent laced around me, making it difficult to stand my ground. "But I am going to stay with you."

"Yeah, but not every night." He pressed his lips to the sensitive part of my neck and my mind quickly forgot why I had talked myself in to coming back to the dorm. "I need a little bit of this every night." He popped me on the butt and I squealed.

"Okay, I'm outta here." Delaney dropped the clothes in her hand.

"No. I need your advice." I tried to wiggle out of Raven's arms, but he only held me tighter. "I need you to help me pick out clothes that will make me look sexy." I glanced up at Raven and he let out a low growl as he continued to nibble on my neck, not paying any attention to Delaney. I leaned to the side, trying to break free, even though I really didn't want to. "Raven, stop." I pleaded with a tone that said yes, more than it said no.

"Looks like you're about to get undressed so I'll help you later." Delaney step aside and headed for the door.

"Thanks, Delaney." Raven said as he kicked off his shoes and started to pull off his shirt. His stomach tensed and I caught a nice view of his elegantly chiseled abs.

"Shit, I almost forgot." Delaney turned around before pulling the door shut. "Whoa! Can you wait until I get out? I don't need a glimpse of the freak show."

"Hurry." Raven tossed his shirt on the chair. "I don't have all day."

Delaney's eyes landed directly on Raven's midsection for a full count of three before she finally tore them away and looked at me. "Do y'all want to grab a pizza with Luke and me later?"

Raven looked at me, waiting for a response. "I'm game if you are," I said, feeling the hunger pains bubble up in my stomach.

His lips spread into a full smile. "Sure, but I'm game for something else first." Raven encircled his arms around me and pressed his lips against my ear as his hands wondered up and down my backside.

"What time Delaney?" I grabbed his arms, trying to restrain him from feeling me up in front of my roommate. He stretched his neck, trying to kiss me. I laughed, unable to resist his tempting offer. After all, I was already in his trap and I was there to stay.

"Is an hour long enough?" Delaney appraised Raven from head to toe and then gave me a wide-eyed warning.

"No, but we'll make it work." He said, undressing me with his eyes.

I giggled as Raven picked me up and tossed me on the bed, landing on top of my clothes.

"I warned you, Lexi," Delaney said, as she pulled the door shut.

"I know. But I can't resist The Raven's trap."

Book Description:

Dobyns Chronicles is about a young boy whose father was a cowboy and whose mother was Cherokee Indian. His parents worked very hard on their ranch to raise their children and survive, but tragedy ends Charlie's way of life. He finds that it is up to him to raise his siblings, David and Viola. His passion for dignity and life is what helps him to survive.

This book allows you to follow his life and live the adventures, ups and downs that shaped him into the man that he became and that of his family for generations. It's a book of twists and turns, and a rollercoaster of emotions that will make it hard for you to put the book down.

Excerpt:

Ma was Cherokee Indian. She had some different ways about her, but she was a Christian. I think Pa said she was Church of Christ, so I think that made us Church of Christ also.

Ma was strict on us boys. I can't tell you the number of times she warmed our backside with Pa's belt or washed our mouths out with soap for saying a curse word. Pa could get away with it, but my brother and me sure couldn't.

Since Viola was too small to be of help to Ma. Until Viola was old enough, David and me helped with house chores. We also helped Pa out in the field. Most of the time, I was the one in the field and David took care of the chores around the house. He may have been small, but he sure was strong. I guess we were all strong, from cutting wood, pulling water from the well and general hard work.

It seemed like Ma was always making clothes, and cooking even though I knew she did other chores. She taught Viola how to make butter at an early age. Ma let her move the dasher up and down in the churn for as long as she could. I think Ma was helping Viola develop muscles like us boys. Sometimes Ma would have Viola go out to the woodshed and pick up small pieces of wood for kindling. That sturdy old wood cook stove used lots of wood. That stove would use a couple ricks of wood a year.

In the summertime, Ma got up early and got the rest of us up, and built a fire outside to cook, so we wouldn't have such a hot house. She'd usually cook enough at one time to keep us fed all-day I can still taste those biscuits made in the Dutch oven. We always had fresh honey or molasses to eat with our biscuits. Times were good then. It's strange what kids think they know, but really don't.

The summer I turned six, was a dry and hot one with plenty of lightning storms, but no rain. We had a large crop of corn standing in the field ready to harvest for livestock feed. I'd ate my fill of fresh corn, so now the stalks and ears were continuing to dry. Pa took some of the ears and had it ground for ma, so she could make her crackling corn bread and mush during the winter. We loved that sweet corn meal mush for breakfast. Sometimes she would put it in a bread pan and let it get cold, slice it and then pan fry it for lunch. I remember the temperature being so hot outside; I could feel my skin burn through my shirt.

Book Blitz: Where Dead Bodies Lie (The Body Dowser Series, #1) by Kat Cazanav @KatCazanav @NereydaG1003 #YABOUNDBOOKTOURS #Giveaway

Where Dead Bodies Lie (The Body Dowser Series, #1)
Release Date: 12/16/14

Summary from Goodreads:
For as long as I can remember, I have been told to follow three important rules;
Always guard my ability
Never share my secret
And pretend to be normal.

However, those three little rules don't make my life easier. I still find dead people and deal with strange visions. Not to mention, an attraction to a boy who doesn't exist. Whenever we cross path's he mists away like smoke on a mirror. He drives me crazy, that Kaff Cooper.

As a flock of dead crows fall from the blackened sky, Kaff becomes the only one who can see the truth straight to the dark underbelly of who I actually am.

My hands feel the pull to extract the forsaken, the lost, the forgotten. It comes as naturally as breathing and there is no stopping it.

Excerpt:
A coldness nipped at my fingertips and no matter how hard I shook my hands, the mist clung to them. I heard a cracking sound and looked up at ceiling lights as they exploded, sending shards of glass spraying everywhere.

Students screamed, covering their heads. Another fury of wind swept in through the window. Papers flew, stools toppled, and lab vials burst.

The door flung open and panicked shouts filled the air as a stampede of bodies flooded out into the hall. I felt nothing as if I were standing in the eye of a storm, detached from the riot a few feet away.

"Let me out!"

"She's crazy!"

"Shit, move your ass!"

"I can't breathe. She's killing us!"

Moments later, the door slammed shut. I was all alone and the room melted away, exposing water lapping at the legs of chairs. A flicker of shadow crawled up from the floor. I could only make out her form a few feet in front of me. She was standing in the middle of the room, her head bent down, face hidden by a mop of wet black hair hanging over her face. Her image flapped and unfurled like a flag in the wind. I climbed down from the desk and leaned against it as the girl floated toward me on a current of air. I shrank back, trying to understand what I'd done. What was she going to do to me?

Release Blitz: Broken Lights (Standalone) by Dianna Hardy @TheWitchingPen @HotTreePromos #Giveaway

Title: Broken Lights
Series: None. Standalone
Author: Dianna Hardy
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Fiction

Norman Smithson is at the end of the line. His wife left him, women don't look at him, he was made redundant, and at forty, he could be just that little bit slimmer. He would be a has-been if he'd ever been a 'was' in the first place. He's not the Alpha male of the 21st century - or of any century. He was the chubby oddball who used to sit silently at the back of the class so he wouldn't get picked on.

Rosa is a dreadlocked, tattooed and pierced twenty-something, who uses her image as armour to keep everyone away from every broken thing about her. But her past is about to catch up with her ... at the exact moment Norman finds himself in completely the wrong place, at the worst possible time.

One gunshot, one scramble for life, one unlikely couple, one very long night ... can one damaged woman and one ordinary man, find the extraordinary in the very last second they're given?

Broken Lights is a standalone story of what's really worth fighting for, when one second is all you have left.

Excerpt:

She pushed open the door to the classroom and spotted Mr. Simmons sitting behind his desk, bent over some papers.

Alex cleared her throat, and he looked up at her.

"You wanted to see me?" she asked.

"Yes, I did. Thanks for coming." Mr. Simmons flashed a smile that made Alex's knees go weak. She steadied herself as he gestured towards the empty desks before him.

"Take a seat," he instructed.

Alex obliged and settled herself in one of the desks in the front row.

"I wanted to talk to you about the test paper you did this morning," Mr. Simmons said, producing the paper in question and handing it to Alex. In the top left-hand corner in neat red pen was the letter C accompanied by a plus symbol.

"Isn't a C plus okay?" Alex asked.

"C plus is great," Mr. Simmons admitted. "Most students in this class would be thrilled with a C plus."

He looked over at Alex, studying her.

"I sense a but coming," Alex admitted.

"But, you're not most students. You almost got an A."

"Almost an A?" Alex echoed.

"Your work is all accurate. In fact, you even wrote the correct answers to all the problems. Then you crossed them out and changed them a few numbers off."

"I got the answers wrong, big deal." Alex tried to feign indifference. She bit her lip and looked out of the window, envious of the students who were heading back to their nice houses and their complete families.

"The point I'm making is that I think you got the answers wrong deliberately," Mr. Simmons suggested, his tone soft and nonconfrontational.

"So what? You think I'm doing the opposite of cheating? Like failing on purpose?" Alex said, trying to make the suggestion sound preposterous. "Why would anyone do that?" She said.

"You tell me," Mr. Simmons asked, still keeping his same, gentle tone.

"I can't tell you because that's not what's happening. I got my answers wrong; it happens. I'm not that good at math."

"But I think you are. In fact, I think you're very good at math."

"I'm not." Alex shook her head and, feeling uncomfortable beneath his scrutiny, folded her arms protectively across her chest.

"I think that you hide how smart you actually are and pretend to be some dumb blonde cheerleader just because you want to fit in." Mr. Simmons stood and came to lean against his desk, shortening the distance between them.

"Are you insulting me?" Alex hugged herself tighter. "Because it sounded like you called me a dumb blonde."

"I said you're pretending to be a dumb blonde," Mr. Simmons corrected her.

"Maybe I'm just dumb," Alex protested, getting agitated.

"Or maybe you pretend to be because you want to fit in. But as someone older and hopefully wiser, let me tell you that fitting in isn't as important as you think it is. There's more to life than being popular."

About the Author:
I have been an avid reader and and writer since my earliest school days. Reading was my first and earliest passions, often seeking the safe sanctuary of my room or the library to read everything I could. My favorite has been romance. I penned some romantic poetry in high school and was winning school awards for my short stories when I was just 16. In college I would hibernate in the library for days at a time, consuming every short story and novel I could find. My diploma says Bachelors in English Lit. which I'm very proud of.

I probably drink too much coffee and eat too much junk food, but to compensate do like running when the weather is nice. I love shopping in the mall even if I never find what I'm looking for. I'm a hopeful romantic who prefers novels with a happy ending.
