What happened after the happily ever after?

You all know the story of Cinderella, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily, sometimes the real adventure starts much later...

Halia dreams of a better life, one where she doesn't scrub toilets for the tyrannical Madam at a boarding house with creepy guests. All Halia wants is to make a decent living doing something she enjoys without her employer constantly putting her down.

However, when her friend tricks her into attending an open mic night, Halia gets much more than she bargained for.

Lorenzo, the bar owner, is convinced Halia has what it takes to become a star, but to do so she must stand up to both Madam and her possessive boyfriend Victor.

Can Halia find the strength she needs to change the course of her life?

My Review:

Halia and her best friend share a room at the boarding house where they work. To make their work days go faster Halia sings in the halls while they are cleaning the rooms. The guest at the boarding house likes to hear her sing so they cover the halls just to hear her sing. Halia is very shy with her singing, she doesn’t like singing in front of an audience. Halia doesn’t think she is very good even though her best friend tells her everyday how good she is.

Halia doesn’t believe that she could make a living with singing she just dreams of a day when she can walk away from the boarding house. She hopes that her boyfriend will ask her to marry him. Halia’s boyfriend is sort of a control freak. He wants things his way and has an idea of how a person should act and behave and live. Halia does not agree with him but she believes that he is her best hope of getting out of the boarding house.

Her best friend tricks Halia into going to open mic night at this bar. Halia is nervous about singing in front of a crowd but goes ahead with it anyone. Everyone at the bar really enjoys Halia’s singing. Halia would like to take the job but she is afraid that her boyfriend may not like the idea. If Halia is to live her own life the way she wants then she must stand up to and face her boyfriend. Can Halia face her boyfriend? Does she have what it takes to make her dreams come true?

Queen of Song is a great little introduction into a brand new world of Cinderella, a Cinderella re-telling. Queen of Song is a very enthralling and enchanting story that will pull you in from the first page. The twist on the Cinderella story in Queen of Song is great and works so well. I can’t wait to dive into the next story Heiress of Melody for more in this fairy tale world of Halia’s Cinderella re-telling.
