The Wysman
by Dorothy A. Winsor
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Date: June 27th 2020
Inspired Quill Publishing

Summary:

"The Grabber is just a fright tale."

Former street kid Jarka was born with a crooked foot and uses a crutch, but that no longer matters now that he's an apprentice Wysman, training to advise the king. When poor kids start to go missing from the city's streets, though, Jarka suspects that whatever's causing the disappearances comes from the castle.

Now he needs to watch his step or risk losing the position he fought so hard to win... but when someone close to him becomes the latest victim, Jarka knows he's running out of time.

His search takes him from diving into ancient history to standing up to those who want to beat or bleed the magic out of him. Will Jarka succeed in uncovering an evil long-hidden, or will he see friends and family vanish into the darkness? And whose side is the King on, in his determination to bind his nobles to him no matter what black arts they've dabbled in? If Jarka fails in his search, his own future won't be the worst thing lost.

The Wysman follows Jarka after the events in The Wind Reader, but this YA Fantasy can be read independently.

My Review:

Jarka is training to be a Wysman so that he can advise the prince when he becomes king. Jarka is a wind reader meaning he can do magic with all the elements of the wind. Jarka was born with a crooked foot and uses a crutch to get around with. As a kid Jarka lived on the streets.

Someone is snatching poor kids off the city streets. Jarka has a lead as to where the kidnapper may be but must watch his step in his investigation as it could cost him his job as an adviser to the future king if he is not careful. Jarka has his suspicions as to who the kidnapper may be.

A couple of the kids runs away so Jarka goes to fetch them back. The kids tell Jarka that they saw the Grabber. Jarka tries to tell the kids that the Grabber is not real but the kids are adamant that they saw the Grabber and that he is very real.

The Wysman is a fast paced read that kept me glued to my seat from beginning to end. The Wysman may be a fast read but it was slow in revealing its secrets keeping you hanging on wanting to know more trying to figure out how it all was going to turn out.

I was really amazed and mesmerized with Jarka’s wind reading as reading the wind with the elements the way he did was a new twists for me. The Wysman is an enchanting read that will capture your attention from the first page pulling you into its world where you become lost.

I recommend The Wysman to anyone who likes fantasy with lots mystery between its pages. One click your copy today!
