Book Tour + #Giveaway: Fate of the Storm by Valerie Storm @Valerie_Storm @RABTBookTours

Demon Storm, Book Eight

Young Adult Fantasy

Date Published: 05-13-2025

Publisher: Shadow Spark Publishing

The shadows have retreated with Raven's downfall, but darkness still curls at the edges of the world. For a moment, though, Kari and Ari have a moment of peace. There is a glimmer of light that threatens to wash away the darkness as they finally bind their fates together in a formal ceremony.

But Raven hasn't given up, and there's an older, crueler foe who hasn't forgotten Kari - the Lord of Demons, the very one who crafted the Catalyst which Raven sought to control, still trapped in an ancient Tree.

Kari's moment of joy comes to a halt as the world shakes and Taris is ripped apart.

Velthas has risen.

Interview with Valerie Storm

What is your favorite part of the book?

My favorite part of Fate of the Storm is the conversations that happen much later…and are quite a bit of a spoiler! I’ll just say they happen between the main character, Kari, and a long-standing villain of the series. Writing and editing the dialogue in those scenes was so, so fun.

Does your book have a lesson? Moral?

Across the entire Demon Storm series has been a reoccurring lesson: trust your friends, and trust yourself. Find your light and don’t let it go; it will give you strength to defeat any enemy.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

Somewhere in between – many of my characters were inspired by video game or anime/cartoon characters. Kari’s design and story is heavily inspired by Inuyasha and her name is shamelessly inspired by Digimon.

Nearly every character in Demon Storm has a similar backstory!

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

My favorite character is Raven. I love that she’s a villain, but even more than that, I love her reasonings and how deviously cruel she is. She has always been so fun to write.

What character in your book are you least likely to get along with?

Despite loving her very much, I am least likely to get along with Raven – she is a tad too nihilistic and cruel for me to realistically enjoy spending time with. We could have fun experimenting…until she turned on me.

What would the main character in your book have to say about you?

By this book, Kari would maybe finally be over all the trauma I’ve put her through. She would say she understands why I wrote what I wrote, but that “If she had a choice to write anything she wanted, why did she create such a hard life for me?”

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

These books are definitely intended to be read together. Jumping into the series in the middle will only leave the reader confused by the events and characters!
