Excerpt:

"Why do all this?" Aria asked.

Sienna stepped farther away from Aria, her fingers grazed over the metal gate. "We get bored here so easily. Occasionally we kidnap natives on the neighboring islands, but it's rare to find an emerald. We didn't lie about our doctrine. Had you been born on Amity Island, you would be an elite. Too bad you're not a native."

"Lucky me," Aria said under her breath.

Sienna faced the guards that kept Aria from running.

"At noon, we'll dress her and put her in the flat along with her precious boyfriend," Sienna said.
"That is unless you've changed your mind?"

Her hand reached out, resting it atop James's bare chest. A hint of anger and jealousy stirred within Aria. She wanted to leap forward and rip Sienna's arm away from his body. She was not to touch him, ever. Aria's cheeks burned with rage.

"Never," James said. "We live together, we die together."

Aria wanted to scream at James for being such an idiot. He was potentially killing himself or her.
She couldn't fight him in the flat. She wouldn't.

Perhaps he had another plan, something else he concocted to get them out of here. At least they'd be caged together, right?

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Aria has changed and grown so much since The Emerald Virgin and so has James but in different ways. Aria is still a prisoner who is searching for her freedom. In The Emerald Virgin her mother kept her hidden from the world for her own safety. Her mother knew that if anyone ever found out Aria existed she knew her baby girl would be taken from and she would lose her forever. Well someone did find out about her in The Emerald Virgin. The king sent his men in Aria’s home; killed her mother and took her away to become a courtesan to one of his four sons. Aria became one of Prince James’ twelve courtesans.

Aria decided that she was not going to live the life of a courtesan to a prince all her life. She had rather take her chances with the punishment she would have to endure if she missed behaved and was exiled from the king’s home. But after meeting Prince James and becoming one of his courtesans Aria started to see things in a different light. Sparks started flying between Prince James and Aria. Aria started having feelings for James and didn’t know if she could live without him in her life but luckily she never had to make that choice, James cared just as much for her as she did him and he was not about to let her get away or let anyone take her from him.

Now in The Amber Voyeur Aria and James take off on their own so that they can live their lives the way they want and be together and no one can tell them what to do. They are so happy that they are together and no one can tear them apart ever. James buys them passage on a ship and so now they are on their way to live happily ever after until pirates take over their ship and put them in a little boat along with other passengers and crew.

They end up on an island where they meet a group of people; the Knight tribe. Aria is very weary of these people. She doesn’t know if she can trust them or not. They seem real nice and are very good to her plus they have taken her into their homes and lives. As a matter of fact all of the people on Amity Island seem like good people. Aria only has one little problem with these people they have separated her from James and she is not exactly sure where he is or if he is safe. And these people don’t have very much to say and Aria has lots of questions.

I love how much Aria and James have changed and the people they have become. They are still the same people, they have not changed who they are but how they look and feel about things. They each have been prisoners in their own homes but in different ways. But of course they each had to go through the things they did in order to be the people they are today. If their lives had been different then they would have been different and may not have felt the same way about each other as they do now.

I have been hooked on the dystopian genre for a long time now. The kind that is laced with a heavier back ground where the heroine is a tough kicka** kind of girl and will fight anyone anytime anywhere. Now I am not saying that Aria is not a kicka** type of girl. She is but in her own kind of way. Aria, The Amber Voyeur and the Gem Apocalypse have been a nice, light, refreshing break from all of the hard kicka** dystopian genre. I love how this author takes you right to the heart of the story and doesn’t leave you hanging for long. She will grab a hold of you right from the very beginning and give you just enough detail to keep you hanging on until the end. She knows just how much to throw at you to keep you hypnotized so you can’t let go and you are at the end of the book before you know what has hit you. Then you are like no, no I want more. I have been taken on a wild refreshing ride with this series and can’t wait to read the next book in the series The Sapphire Sacrifice.

Have you read the Gem Apocalypse yet? If you have then I highly recommend that you do but I do suggest that you start with book one The Emerald Virgin. You don’t want to miss one minute of Aria’s story. But I warn you Aria and James will take you on the best wild refreshing ride of your life. But don’t worry you will love it.
