Book Blitz + #Giveaway: Finding Ford by Kristin Coley @kristin_coley @yaboundtourspr

Finding Ford
by Kristin Coley
Genre: YA Contemporary Fiction
Release Date: March 5th 2016

Summary from Goodreads:

Whoever said life was easy or fair? No one, that's who.

Life was perfect or as perfect as it can be when you're sixteen and your boyfriend is about to leave for college out of state. But really life was on track, we had a plan.

Colt had a full ride to Alabama for football, he was going to go pro one day. Everyone knew it. He'd been working his whole life for it, scouts drooled over him at Pee Wee football, for Pete's sake.

And me? I was getting out of my parent's house the day I graduated, headed to any college that would take me. But my plan was to go to Alabama with Colt.

But the best laid plans, right?

The stick turned blue, then there was the one with double lines, oh yeah the one with the plus sign and finally the one that screamed PREGNANT. Don't judge, I wanted to make sure. But that last one was the nail in my proverbial coffin.

Let's just say I wasn't expecting that.

Don't hate me. I made some choices, choices that I'd like to say I would have made differently if I'd known how it would all turn out, but we can't really go back now can we?

Enter Ford. He was the perfect son. The golden child. Smart, good looking, straight A student headed for law school. At least till I came along.

There are some that would say I destroyed both of their lives, but the truth is they saved mine. That's got to count for something, right?

All I can hope is that we find our happy ending. Fingers crossed, people.

~Hannah

Excerpt:

Whoever was knocking was persistent, I’d give them that.  I glance at the alarm clock and see its 7am.  On a Saturday.  I groan and throw back the sheet.  They’re obviously not going away.  I look down at my boxers as I scratch my chest.  This is decent enough for whoever decided to wake me up this early on a Saturday.
I throw open the door and immediately regret my choice not to grab a shirt.
“Hannah, what are you doing here?  Where’s Colt?”  I asked, vaguely alarmed.  I really wasn’t expecting to see my younger brother’s girlfriend on my doorstep.  Maybe a dumb salesman or someone trying to convert my religion, but not Hannah.
“Ford, hey, sorry it’s so early.” Hannah said nervously.  “Is that a new tattoo?  I like it.  Can I come in?  How have you been?  The last time I was here was right before school started.”  She’s definitely nervous, the rambling and incessant questions are a dead giveaway.
“Sure, come on in.”  I opened the door wider, gesturing her in.  “I’m gonna go put on some clothes.  Make yourself at home.” She heads to the island in the kitchen and hops on a barstool.   I notice she hasn’t told me why she’s here or where Colt was.  I knew Hannah pretty well, but she was always with Colt when I saw her.  Something was going on for her to show up unexpectedly at my place without him.  I pull on a t-shirt and pair of shorts and head back to the kitchen.  She’s still sitting where I left her, looking extremely uncomfortable.
“Want to tell me what’s going on?” I asked her straightforwardly.  She looks up at me, a wry smile on her face.
“You’re always to the point.  I respect that.” She replied, taking a deep breath.  I notice her boobs and look away.  She’s sixteen and your little brother’s girl, I tell myself.  It might be second nature to look, but no need to be lecher.
“Is this about Colt?  Is he okay?  Something happen I don’t know about?”  I prod, getting a little anxious.  I’m sure someone would have called me if something had happened to Colt, but now I’m wondering.
Hannah seems to realize my apprehension and rushes to assure me.  “Colt’s fine, nothing wrong with him.  In fact he’s on cloud nine.  With graduation and everything.”
Colt had been offered a full ride with the University of Alabama to play football.   He’d been breaking records his entire life throwing a football.  No one had ever doubted he’d play college ball and I was pretty sure he’d make it to the pros if he didn’t get hurt.  We were planning a big family dinner tomorrow night to celebrate his high school graduation.
“It’s his dream come true.  You’ll be there tomorrow to celebrate, right?”  I asked her, thinking maybe she and Colt are having relationship issues.
“Yeah, I’ll be there.”  Hannah replied, looking at her hands.

I’m trying to figure out what the issue is. Hannah is looking forlorn, but she’s telling me that Colt is okay and it sounds like she’s coming tomorrow so I’m not sure what’s going on.  I grab juice from the fridge and pour us each a glass.  I nudge the glass towards Hannah and lean back against the counter to wait.  She takes a sip then sets the glass down and looks straight at me.  “I’m pregnant.”

About the Author
I adore chocolate chip cookies, romance novels, and alone time. I live in south Louisiana with a collection of rescued dogs and cats. All of who are the loves of my life and well aware of the fact. Spoiled would be a good word to describe them. Writing is currently a hobby since it doesn’t pay the bills but my fond hope is one day I can consider it a full time job. I’ll keep you posted on how that goes. Currently I spend my days wrangling tech guys in my job as an IT manager. I squeeze writing in between reading plus a million other things like cleaning. Guess what usually wins? Btw, I need to clean my house.
