Six days.
No one thought I could last
Here in the cell—I now call home
They didn’t know I grew up in the prison of my crime family’s dream.
Six weeks.
No one thought I could withstand
The loss, the drugs, the torture
They didn’t know how much I would enjoy their
game.
Six months.
No one thought I could survive
Their puppet and prey—but I like to play—Hard.
And I don’t lose.
They picked the wrong guy. Their so-called ‘grunt’ would fight to get home and take revenge. I vowed to come back—for her—for Kaci. But everything changed.
My maniacal mind wrapped with a pretty mug, I am an unforgiving opponent, tough—tougher than they ever imagined.
And I will never – ever – break.

Interview with Kailee Reese Samuels
What inspired you to write Grunt?
Grunt is the third book in The SOS
Series which are independent, but interconnected chapters of my main character,
Sal Raniero’s history. When I fist came up with the four-book concept of the
SOS, I always knew there would be a dark book in the mix—a moment where I
focused on his internal strife and agony—this book serves that purpose. Grunt
answers a lot of the questions posed in the first two books, The Initiation and
Tea for Two as well as explains some of the reasons why Sal is the way he is in
Juliet and Kinky Sex Magic.
Can
you tell us a little bit about the next books in The SOS Series or what you
have planned for the future?
The next one is Hopechest releasing on
July 4, which I think the fans will truly appreciate. I think everyone has some
idea of what’s happening in the end, but this will give them the happy for now
they are after. I wanted to end the series on a high note as the readers (and
myself) have really gone through a journey to get to this place.
As for other projects, I have a
standalone, happily ever after with no cliffhanger, Fluff, releasing on June
11. I have a few other projects I am working on as well as some surprises up my
sleeve.
For future releases, I am working on the
book that happens after Juliet ends. It will release on Halloween. I hate to
say it’s the next book. I will always consider Juliet the primer book for the
world of Sugargrove, but as with all my work, it’s not necessary to read them
in order. In fact, most people don’t. Will you get more if you do? Well of
course, it’s more backstory, but it isn’t necessary. Someone can pick up Grunt
and enjoy it without ever having read me before. It’s something I pride myself
on, writing a complete and independent book.
Can
you tell us a little bit about the characters in Grunt?
The book focuses predominately on Sal
Raniero, but readers will be surprised to see who all makes an appearance in
Grunt.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your
favorite author and why?
R. Lee Smith – The Last Hour of Gann
left a permanent mark on my mind. The details in the world she builds is just
incredible. Not only that, I have to appreciate that she is another big book
writer. I love reading and writing long books.
If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or
the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this
particular time period?
I would go to Japan, sometime in the
1800s. I am a certifiably obsessed Japanophile.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat?
Or any pets?
We have six dogs, a bunch of barn
cats, chickens, two mini horses, and a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig named Victory
Rush. (Yes, I played the mmorpg World of Warcraft for a number of years. I am a
gamer girl.) For my exotics, we have chameleon (Drogo), a purple pink-toed
tarantula (Olivia), an African Grey (Salty Atticus), a Tokay gecko (Mozart),
and some hermit crabs.
Thanks
for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.
Thank you for taking the time with me.
I really appreciate it!
