The Dragons of Nova (Loom Saga #2)
by Elise Kova
Publication Date:  July 11, 2017
Publisher:  Keymaster Press

Cvareh returns home to his sky world of Nova with the genius crafter Arianna as his temperamental guest. The mercurial inventor possesses all the Xin family needs to turn the tides of a centuries-old power struggle, but the secrets she harbors must be earned with trust — hard to come by for Ari, especially when it comes to Dragons. On Nova, Ari finds herself closer to exacting vengeance against the traitor who killed everything — and everyone – she once loved. But before Ari can complete her campaign of revenge, the Crimson Court exposes her shadowed past and reveals something even more dangerous sparking between her and Cvareh.

While Nova is embroiled in blood sport and political games, the rebels on Loom prepare for an all-out assault on their Dragon oppressors. Florence unexpectedly finds herself at the forefront of change, as her unique blend of skills — and quick-shooting accuracy — makes her a force to be reckoned with. For the future of her world, she vows vengeance against the Dragons.

Before the rebellion can rise, though, the Guilds must fall.

Interview with Elise Kova

What inspired you to write book one of the Loom Saga, THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM?

My original inspiration came from the song "Transmission" by ZEDD. Specifically, there are lyrics in it that say, "We're smart enough to know that, no one gets out alive... you're never too young to die." That led me down imagining what happened to the "chosen one" if they failed on their hero's journey. What happened to the hero who was supposed to save the world if they failed? That gave Arianna's backstory and the start to the Loom Saga in book one that carries over to THE DRAGONS OF NOVA.

Can you tell us a little bit about the next books in Loom Saga or what you have planned for the future?

Book one, THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM, was released in January and book two, THE DRAGONS OF NOVA is out now. Book three, which will be the final book, THE REBELS OF GOLD, will be out December 2017.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in THE DRAGONS OF NOVA?

We have three characters that carry over from THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM:
Arianna - Member of the Rivet's Guild and engineer turned thief.
Cvareh - Dragon "prince" who was sent to Loom to deliver schematics for the Philosopher's Box, stolen from the Dragon King.
Florence - A Raven who ran away from her guild, met Arianna and became her pupil to study the ways of the Revolvers.
There are also two new point of view characters in THE DRAGONS OF NOVA:
Petra - Cvareh's sister and leader of House Xin.
Yveun - The Dragon King.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

It's so hard just to pick one! In my formative years, the works of Dave Duncan and JK Rowling were especially transformative for me. Among my peers, I really admire Danielle L. Jensen and Susan Dennard. They're both very dedicated to their craft and manage work and life admirably.

If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?

I would go to Meiji Era Japan or Renaissance Italy. I was a double minor in college for Asian Studies and Studio Art, so both of these time periods are particularly interesting to me, and I'd love to see them with my own eyes.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

Nope! But I absolutely love animals, and if anyone ever needs a cat or dog babysitter let me know ;)

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.
