Genre: YA Fantasy/Horror
Release Date: July 2017
Summary from Goodreads:
Benjamin is a
programmer moonlighting as a security guard at Dystopia, a seedy club that
caters to the down-and-outs, the desperate, the addicts. He's been building his
reputation, saving for a way out - but when he rescues a young woman from the
nearby estate, he may just have stepped too far out of line...
Lucy is ordinary; a girl with a deadbeat boyfriend, a normal life and college
studies. But when her world takes an odd twist, she starts to wonder about the
people she's meeting, the situations she's in, the odd aversions and attacks
happening around her. They're just coincidences...aren't they?
And Zack is in deep trouble. He's losing his girlfriend, drowning in debt, and
has dwindling job prospects - and that's not the worst of it. His debt is to
people who won't ever forget it, and who want the things closest to Zack's
heart: his blood - and his life. In the heart of Swindon, an ancient order
hides in plain sight, spreading their influence through the streets like a
disease. But despite their widespread power they are catching up with the
modern world: the vampires are going online, and the Order is about to become
more powerful than even they would have dreamed...

My Review:
Lucy is out on a date with her boyfriend Zack whose life is spiraling out of control. It seems that all they do lately is bicker. To top it all off Lucy has to pick up the tab. Then at the end of a lovely night out with the boyfriend he gets a phone call and leaves Lucy on the side of the road in a bad part of town.
Zack owes the people at this club called Dystopia a lot of money and the only way to pay back this debt is not with money. Oh no they don’t want your money they want your blood. Why? Well because they are vampires. So when they call he has to drop whatever he is doing and go them to make his donation. If Zack doesn’t pay his debt either by refusing to pay or by death weather by his own hand or not then his next of kin or loved ones will be left to pay his debt.
When Lucy is left on the side of the road by Zack she is attacked by a group of guys but luckily for Lucy Ben a vampire himself is just down the road moonlighting at Dystopia and hears her screams and comes to the rescue. Ben is unlike all the other vampires as he still has some humanity left in him. Ben takes Lucy home with him and keeps her safe for a time. Ben sort becomes attached to Lucy and wants nothing more than to keep her safe and those whom she cares for as well.
Blood Bank is unlike any book about vampires that I think I have ever read. Lucy is a very strong girl with a very big heart and cares a lot for Zack and wants to keep him safe even when he is throwing her by the side of the road. I loved reading Lucy, Ben and Zack’s stories and all the gory bloody parts as well. The gorier the better I say. But I would have liked to have known more about the vampires and their way of life. Blood Bank is one of those novels that can be devoured in just one setting leaving you wanting more.
If you have not read Blood Bank then let me suggest that you give this gory novel a try. Well that is if you likes lots of blood and vampires that is.
