Blurb:

This is the story of how I saw a dead man die.

I'm Eddie Collins, a CSI. I was finishing up at a sudden death in an old house, waiting for the body snatchers to arrive, when I heard a noise from the cellar.

I had time to kill, so I went to investigate.

Turns out I wasn't the only one with killing on his mind.

My Review:

Eddie Collins is called away on another crime scene. When Eddie arrives at the scene he sees the body of an elderly man with first glance he thinks this will be a short investigation as the elderly man died of natural causes.

When Eddie takes a closer look at the body it looks as if the man is grasping something in his hand upon closer inspection he sees that it is a key. Eddie takes the key out of his hand and wonders what the key goes to. He needs to find the lock that this key fits into and will open.

Eddie checks every lock that the key will fit into until he finally finds the right one and what he finds behind the lock lies another story. Eddie stumbles onto another crime scene that will take him into the past of the man lying dead upstairs. What is behind the lock may explain how the man’s life came to an end.

The Lock is a very short read that definitely reads like a full length novel. It will pull you into its grasp on the first page. It is filled with mystery and suspense on every page. It will have you so engrossed guessing as to what took place behind the lock but keeping its secrets hidden well right up until the end.

The Lock can be read as a stand-alone novel but would be more immensely enjoyed with having read the other Eddie Collins novels before and having known more about Eddie and who he is and what kind of person he is. I have read all of the Eddie Collins novels and loved them all. I love the crime scene investigations and how good Eddie is at his job and how detailed he happens to be.

I would recommend The Lock to anyone who likes a good crime novel  that is filled with lots of mystery and suspense.
