Summary:
When a stranger gives
Analiese Jordan a list of names before he dies, the last thing she expects to
see is her own on it. Not. Cool. Her search for answers leads to the man’s
grandson, Marek, who has dangerous secrets of his own. Both are determined to
unlock the mystery of the list.
But the truth is
deadly. Analiese is a descendant of the God of Death, known as a Riser, with
the power to raise the dead and control them. Finding out she has hidden
powers? Cool. Finding out she turns corpses into killers? No, thank you.
Now the trail plants
her and Marek in the middle of a war between gods who apparently want to raise
an army of the Risen, and Analiese must figure out how to save the world—from
herself.

My Review:
Analiese witness an accident involving an old man when she
tries to help the old man he tells her not to touch him. He gives Analiese a
bag and asks her to take it to his grandson. The old man also explains to her
that she is in danger. When she gets home she knows she shouldn’t look inside
the bag as it does not belong to her but she can’t resist. Inside the bag she
finds a piece of pager with a list of names on it. Some are crossed out and
some are not. The most confusing or terrifying thing about the list is that
Analisese’s name as well as her parents name is on the list as well. Why is her
name and her parents name on the list?
Analiese takes the bag to the old man’s grandson and they
work together to find out why her name is on the list and why? When she finds
the old man’s grandson Marek she learns that he has secrets of his own. Marek’s
grandfather use to play games with him giving him clues so he could figure out
the puzzle but Marek was not any good at. Analiese and Marek work together to
try and figure out what clues the list have and what it means.
Their quest takes them on a long journey finding the clues
that his grandfather left him. Analiese and Marek must solve each clue in order
to move on to the next one. Everywhere they go they keep running into Gods and
Goddess from all over the world. Some are good and some are evil. Analiese and
Marek don’t know a clue who they can trust. Dangers lurk around every corner. A
war between the Gods and Goddess is imminent.
Analiese Rising will have you guessing right up until the
end not wanting to give up its secrets. You won’t be able to flip the pages
fast enough to see what is waiting for Analiese and Marek on the next corner or
what God or Goddess is lurking nearby.
Analiese Rising is for anyone who likes a good fantasy mixed
with mythology and a great adventure.
About the Author
Brenda Drake grew up
the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at
school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish
grandmother's animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling.
With kids of all ages populating Brenda's world, it was only fitting that she
would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical for both
younger readers and the young at heart. And because she married her prince
charming, there's always a romance warming the pages. Her favorite books are
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, Kings Row by Henry Bellamann, and Anna and the French
Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. When she's not writing, she hosts workshops and
contests for writers such as Pitch Wars and Pitch Madness on her blog, and
holds Twitter pitch parties on the hashtag, #PitMad. In her free time, Brenda
enjoys hanging out with her family, haunting libraries, bookstores, and coffee
shops, or just reading someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her
disappointment).
