Blurb:
A revered tea master murdered during Takayama’s Autumn Festival, a cryptic message, and a killer steeped in centuries-old tradition.
International food critic Darcy Finnegan, her bestie Lizzie, and clue-sniffing Schnoodle Mozart arrive in Japan to cover Kyoto’s exclusive ryokan for The Wandering Foodie.
But their plans take a sharp detour when a legendary tea master suddenly dies, and whispers of foul play swirl like steam from a ceremonial tea bowl.
When the master artisan is found dead and a treasured festival float goes up in flames, Darcy realizes this is no ordinary mystery.
Following a trail of coded carvings, counterfeit heirlooms, and a final tea ceremony that never took place, she teams up with Interpol agent Marcus Evans to uncover the truth hidden in ritual.
But in a town where silence is sacred and secrets brew like the darkest matcha, asking the wrong question could turn deadly.
With shadows creeping through paper-thin walls and an unseen killer watching, the trio must expose the truth before Darcy’s own name is written in the ashes.
My Review:
Darcy,
Mozart, and Lizzie head to Japan to cover Kyoto’s exclusive ryokan
for The Wandering Foodie. After their arrival, a legendary tea master
suddenly passed away. The tea master’s granddaughter asks Darcy to
investigate her grandfather’s death, as she believes it was not an
accident. She suspects that someone wanted to harm him.
Darcy
agrees and begins looking into the circumstances of his death. Her
investigation reveals several suspects. There were various
individuals whom I thought were concealing something. I was quite
suspicious of their behavior, prompting me to wonder what they were
trying to hide. What were they hiding? Was it something personal, or
perhaps something more sinister, unrelated to the man’s death, or
maybe it was connected?
With many twists and turns,
Moonlight, Matcha & Murder kept me engrossed as I tried to
uncover the truth about the tea master’s fate. The mystery and
suspense also fueled my desire to keep reading. I couldn’t turn the
pages fast enough, eager to discover the entire story.
The
descriptions and world-building were captivating. I felt as if I was
right there with Lizzie and Darcy, experiencing Japan through their
eyes, and it was stunning. I thoroughly enjoy reading the Darcy and
Mozart Cozy Culinary Mystery series with all the diverse locations
they explore. The vivid descriptions make you feel like you’ve taken a mini vacation.
I highly recommend
