Blurb:

Chantal Breelan is a ward of the state, living under the care of a woman who is cold and heartless. Her past is a mystery, and her future is even more uncertain. She can't recall why she had been taken from her parents and so she's left with nothing but an empty hole where her childhood should have been. When she awakens from her nightmares, she's left with terrible, violent images, as well as a boy whose face is oddly familiar, yet can't be placed.

Scared and alone, Chantal begins to confide in an imaginary friend - a shadow in the shape of a man who stands in the corner of her room. She is comforted when she believes he listens to her. On her eighteenth birthday, Chantal is forced to leave her foster home. She moves to New York City, but the start of her new life doesn't begin as smoothly as she'd hoped. One night at a subway station, Chantal meets a young boy who runs away from her, and she's compelled to follow him down into the tunnels. But this Rabbit Hole reveals a world where reality is a nightmare.

Mathias is a descendant of a Fallen Angel and beholden to wage an unfathomable war against an ancient evil, spawned by greed and spite. A powerful fighter, he and his brethren of Warriors vow to pay recompense for the sins of their fathers by guarding the most precious, piercing light against the darkness - the females of their kind. The Warriors' pledge is to find and protect the Oracles, their sisters and kin. Long have they fought, shedding sweat and blood, hoping that their struggles are not in vain. Yet in his sacrifice and service he may find life's ultimate reward - a love to surpass all time.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Chantal Breelan grew up in the foster care system as a ward of the state. She lived with a heartless woman who didn't care for Chantal all she cared about more than likely was the money she got for taking care of her. To help her through her years of growing up without her parents Chantal learned to depend on the shadow guy. She would confide in him and he would listen to her. When Chantal turned eighteen she was sent out on her own. In other words the state put her out on the streets with nowhere to go. She decides she would go to New York find a job and a place to live. Oh and she took her shadow guy whom she called Nick with her. She couldn't leave her only friend behind.

But Chantal had rude awakening when she was finally living out on her own. She found out real quick like one night that her shadow boyfriend was more real than she thought. She also found out that his name was not Nick but Mathias. She finds out that Mathias is a Fallen Angel and a mighty warrior. Mathias is Chantal's protector. He will do whatever it takes to keep her alive. Why? Well Mathias has fallen in love with Chantal over the years that he has watched over her and been her guardian.

When they are faced with their enemy Mathias and his brothers are fighting to save to all the females of their kind. Chantal can't stand watching all the men fight any longer so she jumps right in amongst them and starts fighting right along beside them. Chantal figures out that she is a warrior herself and that she has to fight their enemy as well. She is not going to sit on her but while the men go fight all the battles no she is going to do her part as well. And fight she does. She may be a small woman but she knows how to wield a sword.

I will have to be honest at first I didn't think I was going to like Legacy of a Dreamer very well. But once I had read a few chapters it was like I couldn't put it down. It just kept you so full of suspense that you just had to know what was going to happen next. Legacy of a Dreamer really has a lot of twist and turns. You don't know from one minute to the next if Chantal and Mathias is going to make it out alive or not. If you like a lot of mystery and fighting then you are going to absolutely love Legacy of a Dreamer. I can't wait to read the next book in the series Dreams of the Cursed.
