Six angels once sat at the right hand of The Almighty, but an ill-fated decision cast them out of Heaven. Now they serve Him on Earth, slaying demons for their redemption. They are…The Fallen.
Lucius, once revered at the side of God, fell to Earth with his brothers to pay penance and atone for his lapse in leadership. Wingless and forsaken, they have all paid a price for their complicity. Lucius' hubris is now a curse, and he cannot rest until they carry out the last of The Almighty's orders...and stop a war that has been millennia in the making.
When danger strikes at the heart of the angels' inner circle, Jude discovers he is faced with a task far greater than he has ever known. The light must be protected at all costs, in all of its forms. The ultimate evil has a plan, and with the most innocent among them at stake, Jude knows he'll finally have to face his sins and meet the pain in his soul dead on. Coriander's touch is the only thing that soothes, but is it enough to make him whole? Can she help him work through the pain long enough to remember his faith, or will he be forever…fallen?
I don’t know that I was actually inspired by anything to write Lucius. It just sort of happened, and all these other angels started showing up and it went from there. I don’t think I had a choice in the matter, really.
When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?
As soon as I could write. I’ve been writing stories and poetry for most of my life.
5 or 6, maybe? I mean, really reading a story and becoming immersed in it.
What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
All kinds. Mysteries, thrillers, romance, non-fiction, you name it. The story has to interest me, not the genre.
What is your favorite book?
I don’t have a favorite, but if I had to choose, it would probably be Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
Shakespeare. The amazing characters and stories, and of course, the language. He runs the gamut of human emotions. I love that.
If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?
Victorian England. I love the pomp and ceremony of the British esthetic.
When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?
Difficult. I struggle with finishing. I’m too self-critical, and it takes me a while to give myself permission to write badly. I want it to be perfect the first time.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
Currently, the only pet in this household is my daughter’s betta fish, Dubby.
What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?
Chocolate or anything Greek.
Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?
Develop a thick skin. Surround yourself with supportive people. Make friends. Be a friend. Don’t read reviews. Always be willing to learn more. Hone your craft.
