What inspired you to write Alterity?
Alterity came about because of my love of music and the Celtic culture. After writing paranormal characters for the better part of three years, I was ready to take a little break from my vampires and write human characters. It was a transition that took some getting used to in the beginning.
When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I was bitten by the writing bug at the tender age of eight. I placed third in an essay contest and history was made.
My first book love was for Judy Blume books around third or fourth grade.
What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
I’m not a huge fan of YA. My favorite books are those with some sizzle in the storyline. I tend to steer clear of vampire and rocker romances, simply because these are the genres I write in.
What is your favorite book?
The Outlander Series are my favorite books at the moment.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
Diana Gabaldon is my favorite author. I just love the knack she has for filling out a scene and making you feel the emotions of her characters.
If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?
Honestly, I love living in contemporary times and would never ever want to go back in time.
When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?
Writing is definitely made easier for me with music. I usually start with an outline that never holds up. My characters are just as stubborn as their creator.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
I don’t have any fur babies, but I do love them. My life is so complicated and busy that I simply do not have the time to devote to one. I am a firm believer in not having them unless you can treat them as one of the family.
With the holidays coming, I am thrilled to be able to indulge in some of my favorite foods. Sausage balls and applesauce raisin bread are two of my most favorite holiday foods that I only get to eat this time of year.
Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?
Write what you love. Read plenty. Stay at it. Be realistic about your expectations. Being an author hard and it needs to be something you are truly passionate about.
