Tessa McCaide has a unique talent for getting into trouble. Then again, it isn’t easy for a girl with visions to ignore what she sees. Luckily Tessa and her family are leaving California and moving halfway across the country, giving her the perfect opportunity to leave her reputation as “Freaky Tessa” behind.

But Tessa doesn’t realize that kissing the wrong guy in her new Texas town could land her in far more trouble than she ever imagined. Like being forced to attend St. Ailbe’s Academy, a secret boarding school for werewolves.

Even if the wrong guy did accidentally turn her into one of “them” and doom her to attending the weirdest high school ever, Tessa can’t help her growing attraction to the mysterious Dastien Laurent.

When vampires attack St. Alibe’s and her visions pinpoint an enemy in their midst, Tessa realizes that boy drama and her newfound canine tendencies might just be the least of her problems.

My Review:

Whenever seventeen year old Tessa touches people or objects she gets a glimpse into their past so she wears gloves at all times to help prevent this from happening. A girl gets tired of seeing into people’s heads and seeing some of the things they do. Tessa has no friends because everyone thinks she is a freak but they are probably more afraid of her than anything.

So when Tessa’s dad announces that he has a new job in Texas and is going to move the family there so they can be closer to her mother’s family Tessa is ok with this as she doesn’t want to return to her old school anyway with no friends.

Tessa meets a few new friends at her new school and is invited to a party. She decides that she will go as she doesn’t want to start her new life stuck in her room alone all the time. Tessa wants what any girl her age wants and that is to have a life and friends.

At the party she sees this very hot guy whom she met at her new house the day they arrived. Just being around Dastien turns her legs into mush and for some reason her brain decides to go on vacation and whenever she tries to have a conversation with him she just spits and stutters.

Dastien is a werewolf and has a strong attraction to Tessa as well. When he meets her his wolf claims her as his mate. At the party Dastien kisses her and accidently bites her which in turn cause her to become a werewolf.

After Tessa becomes a werewolf she has to change schools again and gets to know a whole new set of people. Tessa now has to attend the St. Alibe Academy, a school for werewolves. Tessa makes some new friends at St. Alibe’s and has found a best friend in Meredith her roommate.

Most everyone at St. Alibe’s are great people but there are a few that has it out for Tessa and will do whatever it takes to take her down or get her thrown out. Imogene and ex-girlfriend/best friend of Dastien still wants him and tries to let Tessa know by getting her face at every opportunity but she is missing with the wrong girl when she goes up against Tessa as her wolf will always fight for her mate.
Not only does she have to worry about ex-girlfriends but she has found out that vampires are coming to attack the school. Tessa and her friends must find a way to stop the vampires and they are definitely not of the sparkly variety no they are of the mean gross, smelly, rotten, undead variety.

I would like to say that Becoming Alpha was the first book in the Alpha Girl series that I have read but it is not as I read Shattered Pack book #6 first and then Being Alpha Book #7 next so I fell in love with this series last year when I read Shattered Pack. After reading Becoming Alpha I thought to myself I would love to start at the beginning with Tessa’s story to find out how it all began so imagine my surprise when I checked my email and the rest of the books were there waiting for me. I was overjoyed to have been given this opportunity and couldn’t wait to get started. I can’t wait to jump head first into the next book Avoiding Alpha.

Becoming Alpha hooked me from the first page and didn’t let go until the end or may not even then. I honestly think there is action on every page that keeps you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. I would honestly have to say that the Alpha Girl series is one of the best werewolves’ series ever. I believe the Alpha Girl series would make a great TV show or series.

Becoming Alpha is a great read for anyone who likes a little bit of everything in their paranormal worlds like werewolves, vampires and witches. If this is your thing then you will love Becoming Alpha. Pick up your copy today and begin a werewolf adventure with Tessa, Dastien, Meredith and the rest of the characters.
