Interview with Blaise
Ramsay
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in
Blessing of
Luna?
Damien Pierce is a young man who has suffered multiple
traumatic
events in his life which resulted in his contracting a very
serious case
of PTSD. Jillian Styles is an immortal lycanthrope who is
searching
for the soul of her dead lover. Through a chance meeting,
Damien
happens to be the new vessel for Jill’s lover’s soul. Soon
however,
she finds she doesn’t care. Both are very damaged. Jill has
long time
had to be a very independent woman but she doesn’t want to
be. She
wants to have a mate so she can be what a lycan female wants
to be.
Damien starts out as an incredibly weak character, one can almost
say like a teenager. He is made to shift through the
different
experiences. This is where the drastic character shift
happens and it
is something usually not seen in paranormal romance.
Alexander
Kain is the mentor character or the catalyst that helps each
of these
characters change. He is my favorite and is the main
character in
book two.
Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or
what you
have planned for the future?
For this year, I have a novella project set to release by
either
December of this year or January of 2019. It is a romantic
suspense
set in Regency Era England. Bane of Tenebris, Wolfgods 2, is
due
next year either early June or mid-July. As far as FyreSyde
Publishing goes, I will be looking towards running more
fundraisers,
charity streams and live events to help give back to the
public who
has already given so much support.
How long would you say it takes you to write a book?
Honestly, it depends. For example, this summer, I have
chosen to
step back and work on the next step in FyreSyde’s future
which does
not include just my own books but hopefully other fun things
as well.
On average, I can write a 50K book in a month. A novella
usually only
takes me a few weeks, like two or three for a first draft.
Then I let the
manuscript rest before reading it again and doing the first
round of
edits. All in all, it can take about five months to finish a
novel from
start to finish.
What is your favorite childhood book?
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Pickles in Pittsburg were
always my favorite short reads. For longer read, Goosebumps
was
always a go to. I love getting scared, which is why
Halloween is a
favorite time of year for me and the first fundraiser I’m
planning to
run. I’m in need of authors willing to contribute books and
book swag
just so you know!
If you could spend the day with one of the characters
from
Blessing of Luna who would it be? Please tell us why you
chose
this particular character, where you would go and what
you
would do.
That would be Kain. He is a favorite of mine. I love him so
much
because inside he is so broken. Someone who keeps a cold
mask of
reserve to hide the fact he’s actually suffering so badly.
We would go
to his favorite bar and enjoy a few drinks, maybe some pool
and
generally talk over where I’m planning on going with the
next two
series. He is an amazing character and one of the most
complicated.
What was the hardest scene from Blessing of Luna to
write?
That would be the death of Chelsea. I had such a hard time
not
tearing up in this scene. When I read it to one of my alpha
readers,
they actually did cry. It’s such an emotional period in the
book that
serves as a great start to internal conflict that I won’t
spoil here.
*wink*
What made you want to become a writer?
I worked fifteen years in the conceptual art and character
design
industry when I started to notice a recurring trend. The
designs
started feeling empty and I wasn’t getting the same sense of
fulfillment I used to get. One night I decided to open up
Microsoft
Word *hiss* and started writing. The Good Luck Cat was
the first
published short story on the art site I was apart of. It won
the highest
reward the site offers and I decided, maybe I have a future
in this.
The first novel I wrote but didn’t publish was a Biker Romance
after
reading some amazing stories by A.E Fisher. She inspired me
to
write novels and after doing NaNoWriMo, Blessing of Luna was
born!
Just for fun
