It’s been seven years since the fall, since the world as
Thais Fenwick new it ended. The world didn't end with a bang or a whimper; no a
virus swept through the entire world killing almost everyone in its wake
leaving a bunch of marauding, murdering, rapist, controlling men.
Thais and her blind sister, Sosie lived with their father in
the Appalachian Mountains when their town is attacked murdering thieves. Thais
and Sosie are taken to Lexington City where men are superior to women. Women
are used for nothing more than sex slaves. Well unless they are lucky enough to
be chosen as someone’s wife, but what is the difference if you have no choice
in the matter.
After reaching Lexington City Thais and Sosie are separated
leaving any kind of escape almost impossible. But as they say if there is a
will there is a way and Thais has the will. She has promised to take care of
Sosie and protect her against the men her mother warned them about.
Atticus Hunt, Overseer of Lexington City is left temporarily
in charge while the boss is away. Atticus has been trying to survive for the
last seven years in world full of hate violence. The only way for him to
survive was to pretend or try to be like the men that he is surrounded by every
day. But when he meets Thais the person that he has built for himself to be in
this apocalyptic world starts to fall away and his true self makes an
appearance.
Atticus knows that the only way to protect Thais is to take
her away from Lexington City. They are told that there is a place out there
with good people where they will be safe but it will be a long hard journey for
them especially with people from Lexington City hot on their trail. Not to
mention the people that they are sure to come across along the way. If they can
make it and stay alive long enough to reach Shreveport, Louisiana then they
just may have a chance at a long life; a chance to meet more people like them.
Everything Under The Sun is everything. It is impeccably
written. It grabbed me from the very first word and didn't let go until the end
and even now it still has me in its clutches. I love post-apocalyptic books and
can’t seem to get enough of them. Everything Under The Sun is one of those
novels that will stay with you for years to come. It is a long book but I never
got bored and I never once thought that it was dragging. As a matter of fact I didn't want to see it end and I can’t wait to read more of this world that the
author has created.
I highly recommend this incredibly amazing book to all
post-apocalyptic and romantic fans.
