Blurb:

After the fall of Tir Na Nog, Elves began leaving Earth for Mars, but that was temporary. They built themselves a large fleet and searched the stars for a new home. They found it in the Pleiades.

Centuries later and the exodus is near complete. While cruising at sub light speeds to refuel its fusion reactors, one of the Exodus ships is attacked, it is carrying an agent of House Hashimoto on a secret mission.

On the day of the attack, Kaede Hashimoto, a flower elf, is born. His father, is Prince Hiro, the son of the Emperor, Takahiro of House Hashimoto. Soon it is clear Kaede is no ordinary child.

Until now the problems of the Empire have only been trade, terraforming new worlds and an occasional attack by space born pirates on the location and collection of asteroids with gold, gem and other precious metals.

My Review:

After the fall of Tir Na Nog, Elves built themselves a fleet of ships to travel through space in search of a new home planet. A few of the ships had problems with the FTL drives and couldn’t jump from one system to another. The main ship did not notice that they had left behind some of their ships until they had already made the jump. They made plans to send a ship back to look for them and bring them forward with the rest of the fleet.

A flower elf, Kaede is born to Prince Hiro, the son of the Emperor, Takahiro of House Hashimoto. It is not long before it is known that Kaede is not an ordinary baby by the time he is three months old Kaede is walking and talking. Kaede is a toddler with the mind of a 12 year-old.

The Boyhood of Kaede is made up of more than one story line with lots of different characters. The Boyhood of Kaede has a little bit for everyone as it is made up of more than one genre. The Boyhood of Kaede has elves, witches, ogres, and dragons as well as spaceships and space pirates.

The Boyhood of Kaede is unlike most books I have read mixing witches, magic, elves and space all together in one book not bad, not bad at all. The story line is awesome but I would have liked a little more world building though.

I would recommend The Boyhood of Kaede to anyone who is looking for something a little different that is outside the norm but enjoy reading about spaceships, magic, witches, dragons and elves traveling in space.
