Interview with Mr B / Mike Barnes
Introduce yourself and tell me about what you do. - Mr B / Mike Barnes is a best selling self-improvement book ( Hardwired to The Heart ) and Childrens book author. His passion for people has encouraged him to travel down two separate lanes of writing with both geared towards encouraging all ages to have every opportunity to grow personally and professionally for generations to come.
Tell me more about your journey as an author, including the writing processes. As a 38 year business leader, parent and grandparent I had always wanted to unpack my what was in my heart and on my mind. I like to think of it as heart and mind harmony. My rhyming Childrens Books ( Mr. B.’s books ) are intended to encourage love, care, kindness and an encouragement to learn and grow. My self improvement book is intended to bring a heightened awareness to those leadership opportunities that are serving a community of human beings first with real, hearts, minds souls and heartfelt feelings. I decided to write children’s books two years ago when I was reading to my Grandchildren and two years later I have published best selling Happy Makes Me Happy about a little girl and how she takes the love and kindness she learns from her wonderful dog Happy to her friends and family. I then wrote Love With Twins x 2 in celebration of my twin granddaughters, and then the Yay… series with Yay…It’s My First Day of School, and now Yay… I Love to Learn which I would encourage our readers to read It’s My First Day of School and then sequel I Love to Learn.
Tell me about your Book (that you want to talk about) In my self improvement book Hardwired to The Heart two of the seven core competencies include the Learner and Growth Mindset and Active tuned In Listening as developmental behaviors. With this in mind I was compelled to bring those competencies to life for children. When I completed the first of the Yay series books, Yay…It’s My First Day of School, I wanted to then write Yay… I Love to Learn. It is a mindset that deserves the encouragement of the enthusiasm to learn to include listening which is hopefully an early age life lesson. The books I have written are books I wish I would have had an early age as I remember my own fears, anxiousness and being nervous for my first day of school. The intent of the books are to encourage children to “make friends” and run to versus learning versus run from learning.
Message for our readers - This book is intended to help parents and teachers with the encouragement for children to be excited about learning today, tomorrow and for generations to come!

Mike Barnes is a semi-retired new author whose passion for writing came to fruition upon his retirement from 38 years of authentic servant leadership.
As a father and grandfather, Mike was reading to his twin granddaughters and decided to unleash his passion for writing children’s books with rhyming stories about love, care, and kindness.
