Review:
Officer
Rick Grimes wakes up in a hospital after being in a coma due to a gunshot wound
while on duty. He steps out into the hall to find a nurse or someone at least
but as he starts walking down the hall soon realizes no one is there. The rooms
are all empty. There no sign of people, no patients, no nurses, do doctors, no
visitors the hospital is empty or is it? Just as he is making his way to an
exit he hears something and realizes that there is something behind that door
something or someone has been locked in. Now why would anyone lock a bunch of
people in like that? But he is soon over run by a bunch of people that want
nothing than to bite him. What is wrong with these people? He takes off down
the street trying to get away from them before they eat him when he runs into
to a man Morgan and his Duane who explain to him what is going on and that the
world has been overrun with zombies.
Rick
goes home to find his wife, Laurie and son Carl missing. Well I guess you can
imagine what his first thought was but then he remembers that Laurie has family
in Atlanta and figures that she would go there so he packs his bags and take
off for Atlanta. He finally finds Laurie and Carl with a group of people
camping in the mountain area. His best friend and partner Shane helped his
family to get to Atlanta safely.
Well
they have not been reunited long with zombies over take their campsite and they
have to hit the road looking for a better safer place to stay. All they want
now is just to survive and live another day while ridding the world of a few
more zombies. They come upon a farm on their travels and decide to stay awhile
but the farmer Hershel Greene won’t let them stay and sends them on their way.
One of own Glenn decides that he is going to stay at the farm as he has fallen
in love with the farmer’s daughter Maggie.
So
the crew find themselves back in the same position as before you know back on
the road again looking for a safe place to stay. They come upon a prison which
just happens to be overrun with zombies. But they figure they can clear it out
and it would be a great place to live. So they start to rid the world of a few
more zombies and kill the prison zombies. So the Prison folk move into the
prison. As they are making sure the prison is all clear of the pz they find
that the cafeteria has been boarded up so naturally when they open the door
they are expecting to see more pz but they are so wrong. What they do find are
more pf; prison folk who lived there before zombies ruled the world.
So
now the pf have settled in to a new way of life at the prison fighting off the
pz that congregate at the fence and outside the prison. But their peaceful life
doesn’t last long with the Governor comes to take over the prison. The pf do
not only have to fight the pz they have to fight the living as well to keep
their home. But they are outnumbered and soon find themselves back on the road
again looking for a new safe place to stay and ridding the world of a few more
zombies in the process.
The
Walking Dead is my favorite tv show ever. I have watched it from the very
beginning. I tell everyone don’t call my house when The Walking Dead is on
because I will not answer the phone. Do not miss with my Walking Dead or we are
gonna fight. So when I was given the opportunity to read The Walking Dead I
couldn’t say no. Although the book is different from the tv show I still loved
it just as much as ever. I have always loved blood and gore. The bloodier and
gorier it is the better I like it and I do love me some zombies. I love the
world that Robert Kirkman has created for The Walking Dead. The characters come
alive on the pages they all have their everyday life problems even if some of
them are petty childish things that need to be put behind them. But that just
makes them human I guess. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down and
I really can’t wait to read the next book to see how different it is from the
tv show.
Yes
I would definitely recommend reading The Walking Dead if you love the tv show
or if just love zombies with a lot of blood and gore mixed in.
