What if the Kingdom of Heaven’s perspectives invade the earth through its sons and daughters living here on earth? (Matt 6:9-13)
One of 400 “What If” thought provoking perspectives designed to jolt and align our thinking as Kingdom citizens temporarily living on earth.
A. Soul continues her adventure into the promise land with exuberant delight and unlimited expectation. Her new companion, Joy Grace, is full of surprises, wisdom and questions that challenge her old way of thinking. Along the journey, A. Soul learns to have her pen and paper ready to write the thought provoking, “What If?” Kingdom Perspectives (KPs) that Joy Grace shares. The more “What If?” questions A. Soul ponders, the greater the clarity she has of the King, and the Kingdom to which she belongs. May these questions challenge your thinking as they do A. Soul’s and ultimately transform your mind into the mind of Christ. (1Corinthians 2:16) May you also allow, Joy Grace, to lead you into truth through all of your life adventures.
Interview with W. A. Vega
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in (Beyond Religion, 400 Kingdom of Heaven Perspectives, The Adventures of A. Soul, Volume 2)?
The main character is A. Soul, and her best friend and companion, Joy Grace. A. Soul depicts a soul in search of God. In Volume One, she goes on a journey with a mysterious Gardener, who reveals the Author and Finisher of her faith. To her surprise, the journey takes her beyond religion, and into an intimate, relationship with the living God. Her journey ends with her entry into the promise land, where she has to learn the culture, language, norms, etc. of her new Kingdom and unlearn everything she has learnt about religion. In Volume 2, I introduce a new character, Joy Grace, who represents a sage guide, counselor, and companion. As A. Soul begins her next adventure, Joy Grace, provokes her thinking with several “What If” questions compelling her to shift her thinking.
Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
Volume three (which will be published shortly) finds A. Soul wrestling an old adversary but from a new perspective. In Volume 3, Joy Grace, a wise counselor, shares a well-known story to A. Soul, but from a completely new point of view. She begins to ‘see’ differently through Joy Grace’s perspectives. Among many things, Volume 3 tackles rejection, worthlessness, insecurity and many other inner demons, from the vantage point of redemption. Volume 4 is also underway. It expands the theme in Vol. 3 to include disappointment, failure, dysfunction, etc. again from the perspective of redemption. Both are captivating page turners that will revolutionize the readers’ perspectives of ancient biblical stories.
How long would you say it takes you to write a book?
That depends on the book. I wrote “Beyond Religion, 400 Kingdom of Heaven Perspectives, The Adventures of A. Soul, Volume 2) in approximately a month. It was literally a download straight from my spirit to the keyboard. Volume 3, was a difficult story to write because I am intimately familiar with the theme. Nonetheless, when I begin a story, just as the urgency of delivering a baby, I have to get it out, and out quickly.
What is your favorite childhood book?
Unquestionably, and it is still one of my favorites, “Hinds Feet on High Places,” by Hannah Hurnard. I think I’ve always been fascinated with the Redemptive theme and one day hope to write an allegory of her quality.
If you could spend the day with one of the characters from (Hinds Feet on High Places) who would it be?
(Her name is Much-Afraid)
Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you would go and what you would do.
(I choose her because she represents all of us in some aspect. Her fears, weakness and disabilities kept her in the valley, where she was plagued with her relatives, Dismal, Envy, Pride, Craven Fear, etc. She then takes a journey with the mysterious Shepherd, who leads her from the valley to the High Places. However, in order to get to the place above her circumstances, she had to travel through hard places, i.e. “Shores of Loneliness; Precipice of Injury,” etc.
What was the hardest scene from (Beyond Religion, 400 Kingdom of Heaven Perspectives, The Adventures of A. Soul, Volume 2) to write?
Every “What If” perspective was in some way difficult to write. At times I felt like a hypocrite because I haven’t fully come into the knowledge of what I was writing. Other times, I had “Ah Ha” moments. There were many times of crying out to God in the midst of writing these perspectives. It’s as if, my long-held perspectives were being uprooted, and quickly. Like pulling an aching tooth, some perspectives were bothersome and contradictory to my experiences, but I knew nonetheless to be true.
What made you want to become a writer?
I’ve always loved writing and I’m an avid journaler. After spending many years in corporate America, oftentimes writing policies and procedures, it was relaxing and exciting to let my creative side shine. I began writing short stories and sharing them with friends who encouraged me to write. Now that I’ve written eight books, my passion for writing is definitely my ‘happy place.’ It’s what I was made for…
