When The Prison Healer and The Hunger Games meet…
"Thirst for power makes people monsters far quicker than the insanity associated with love."
Running came easy to Carmen. When her hometown was destroyed, she fled. And now she was attempting to vanish under the gaze of the Chancellor of Arrebol. She thought that the most important thing in her life was survival at any costs, but she soon found out being on her own was deadly.
After being captured by a Night Merchant and sold to a faraway land, Carmen managed to escape and return home. But her reprieve is short-lived when it became clear that she would still face the brutality of the Blood Tournament.
To make matters worse, a marriage announcement threatened to shatter any hope of a normal life. As she struggled to keep her head above water in a world full of intrigue and betrayal, she discovered that even her closest peers were not who they seemed.
In a world where trust was a rare commodity, survival was never guaranteed, and danger lurked around every corner, Carmen's only way out was forward.
Be captivated by Carmen's story as it intertwines with classic themes of social status and family loyalty, as well as courage under fire in order to survive against all odds.
My Review:
The Deadliest Game is the second book in The Blood Tournaments by Daniela A. Mera. The Deadliest Game picks up right where book one The Gilded Survivor left off with Carmen on the run. She is running away from The Blood Tournaments.
But she finds herself in danger on the road. At first, she runs into a pack of wolves then she is taken captive. She finally escapes to return home. She hopes things will be better when she gets there but they are not as she still has to face The Blood Tournaments.
I fell in love with The Blood Tournaments series with the first book The Gilded Survivor. I can’t seem to get enough of this series and can’t wait to read more about this amazing world in the next book The Bleeding Throne. The Deadliest Game has plenty to keep me hooked and racing to the end to see how it all would turn out.
Oh, and speaking of that ending it has left me wanting more now. That ending was a shocker, to say the least, or at least enough to keep me hanging on and wanting more that is.
I love the world-building for The Blood Tournaments as it reminds me so much of The Hunger Games. The descriptions are so vividly written that I had no problem seeing it all play out in my head as I was reading.
