Win the 16 is a must-read for anyone looking to progress mentally, physically, and professionally, and steer clear of complacency. To make the book relatable and motivating, I shared real-life stories that serve as prime examples. It is a valuable resource that can help anyone, regardless of their current skill level, to improve and reach higher levels of success. When you finish reading the last page, you will be prepared to take on whatever goal or priority you decide to attack first.
What is the PRIMARY benefit, above all others, that your potential reader will gain from reading this book?
Readers will feel empowered, inspired, and energized to begin their journey to be there best. They will be able to implement concrete sustainable practices into their waking 16 hours. The reader will learn ideas on how to improve time management, eliminate or minimize energy vampires from their life, how to self-coach, ways to improve mental toughness, importance of “accountability” buddies, handle unforeseen obstacles and stress plus more. The book will discuss how critical habits and discipline are the keys to when motivation is not with us. In the end, Win the 16 delivers skills that can be developed if we choose to focus on them.
If you had to compare this book to any other book out there, which book would it be?
Win the 16 has a dash and splash of a couple of books.
Spark by Angie Morgan, Courtney Lynch, and Sean Lynch
Both books share ways we can grow and lead ourselves as well as others.
Energy bus by Jon Gordon
Both books demonstrate and discuss how important positivity and energy is to success in our lives. Negative mindsets are just a recipe for unfulfilling days and a pathway of never reaching our unlimited potential.
Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink
Both books discuss how pivotal accountable is as well as taking ownership in everything we do. We have choices. It’s up to us.
Hundreds of thousands of books come out every year. Why should someone buy THIS book?
This book shares principles and strategies no matter what level you are at with a certain skill. You can get better by implementing these step-by-step strategies and lifestyle changes one small step at a time. You will be empowered that, YES I CAN DO IT! This is doable.
Lastly, the message is being delivered by the guy who could be your neighbor. The author is relatable. He grew up on the south side of Chicago with a single mom and his two brothers. Nothing was given. He learned Win the 16 over his youth into his adulthood. He’s not famous just like the reader might not be famous. We are regular people just trying to become our best self. Over two decades of leadership has led me, the author, to know how to energize and inspire people. This book will do that from the “guy” next door.
Who is your target audience?
Sixteen to one-hundred years old will benefit from this book because it is all about inspiration, energy, and a desire to be your best self regardless of your age. This book is about a mindset, philosophy, and lifestyle. I want to live to I am a 100, so I am not going to ever stop trying to be my best self. A reader might not be able to do a triathlon, but can they do a ten-minute walk? A college kid wants to be her or his best self, so they need to read the book.
Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage?
My journey started in Chicago, where I was born and raised on the south side. Coupled with deep-rooted connection to my hometown, the work ethic, toughness, loyalty and importance of education was taught from an early age by my mom and the south side community. They all have been essential factors driving my personal and professional success. I learned Win the 16 growing up on the south side. My love for Chicago is unwavering, and that is evident as I currently make it my home with my beloved family.
Where I grew up played a major role in writing this book and how I live my life.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since publishing your work?
Two things and they are the following:
My mom had me over for lunch when the books arrived. I hand delivered her a hard copy. She is so proud that she now has an author in the family. My mother was a college teacher. She was a valedictorian in High School. She started a family at twenty years old. Ended up divorced with three kids at twenty-eight years old. Mom always pushed education. She graduated college at the age of forty.
Mom is so proud that I am an author. She is bringing the book to the ladies at water aerobics, so they can see it. I don’t think I need to say anything more than that. My mom earned and deserved this book. All the work was worth it because of that moment for sure.
Second thing is all the phone calls/texts, and emails from people saying, it’s so inspirational and positive. I am going to start doing this or that. It warms my heart when I hear this. I have NO IDEA if I will become a best seller. It really doesn’t matter because I have already won more than I could have ever hoped for on this journey of writing a book. Win the 16 makes a difference in people’s lives and it’s already showing.
How would you describe your writing style?
Energetic
Passionate
Engaging
Content driven
Ultimately, my style of writing is authentic and genuine. It’s coming from the guy who lives next door.
People who read the book will believe and feel that they can grow and progress. It’s just small steps one at a time. Also, it’s OK not to be OK at times. We are human.
Are your characters pure fiction, or did you draw from people you know?
The book is nonfiction and you will hear stories about me. You will hear stories about a building engineer, real estate agent, salesman, educated/non-educated people and a few stories from famous people to be mixed in because we all have two things in common. We are humans and different. All of us need to take a different path to win our own sixteen hours in the day.
What do you hope to accomplish with your book other than selling it?
The goal of Win the 16 is to spread the strategies and principles of this book to thousands of people. I want people to be energized and believe they can take some small steps every day to put themselves on a path towards their unknowable potential. If we can do this, we ALL win!
