Inheriting
Great-Aunt Tilly’s 1820 mansion in a Maine-coast town seemed like
the perfect escape from New York City’s crime, grime—and my
broken heart—till the simple life took a dangerous twist...
I’ve burned my bridges: sold my NYC apartment to move up here to Blueberry Bay, and open an inn in this fantastic, run-down folly of a house. But making friends in a tight-knit community would have been tough enough. Now, I don’t have a clue who I can trust—except my clever Havanese dog, Ziggy.
Our first night in the house, a stranger in the attic died right before my eyes. Suicide—or murder?
My brusque, annoying neighbor, an ex-detective who’s come out of retirement to investigate, suspects I killed her. My housekeeper knows things she’s not telling me. The local contractor I’ve hired, a cute single dad, seems great for the job, but has secrets too.
The repair list is huge, and the “Barton’s Landing B&B” has to open for business—soon. Meanwhile, I’ve got to solve this murder matter before I’m locked up as Suspect #1—and before whoever's making threats tries to kill me!
My Review:
Perilous Landing is the perfect introduction to Faye Weatherbee’s A Maine Coast Cozy Mystery series. It introduces us to the characters and Blueberry Bay, a small town on the Maine coast.
Lisa inherits an 1820s mansion from her great-aunt Tilly. She plans to turn the old house into a B&B. On her first night in the house, Lisa and her trustworthy little dog, Ziggy, hear a noise in the attic. After further investigation, they find a woman lying on the floor, dying. Is it murder or suicide?
Of course, Lisa is the number one suspect. She must discover what happened to this woman before she is locked up. Can she uncover the truth before she is arrested for murder? Will she ever open her B&B?
Perilous Landing might be a brief read, but it delivers a powerful impact as you try to uncover what happened to the woman in the attic. The mystery will keep you racing to the end to discover the truth.
Perilous Landing reminded me a bit of the new Nancy Drew mystery show, as it is set in a town on the Maine coast, and of course, Nancy Drew and her friends solved crimes as well. It also reminded me of the TV show Murder, She Wrote. I can’t wait to see where Ziggy and Lisa’s story takes us in the next book in the A Maine Coast Cozy Mystery series.
If you enjoy sweet cozy mysteries, then I highly suggest you give Perilous Landing a try! Grab a copy of Perilous Landing today and meet Ziggy and Lisa!
