An American Girl in Italy

Summary From Goodreads:

An Italian paradise is the last thing she wants... but the one thing she needs!

Surely any girl would kill for the chance to tour Italy's most famous cities for the summer? To experience the warmth of the Tuscan sun, the culinary delights of the pizzerias and caffés and to stroll along the cobbled streets of the City of Love itself...

Any girl apart from ambitious oboist Carly Davis that is! For her, the Easthampton Civic Symphony's latest European tour is one massive inconvenience. She can't even put her smartphone down long enough to snap a picture of the Coliseum.

Only, there's one Italian attraction that Carly hadn't quite expected to be a part of the tourist route...

Tour guide Michelangelo is as dark and delicious as Carly's morning espresso. And when she needs a few lessons in the language of love to land her an important gig, he's a more than capable tutor.

But with her promising career back in Boston, can Carly really afford to lose her heart in Italy?

Excerpt:

She allowed herself to relax in his embrace, letting the warmth and rush of adrenaline flow through her. the smell of his skin mixed with a trace of aftershave brought back memories of the previous night.

Michelangelo nuzzled his nose into her hair and sighed. 'Can you stay one more night?' Carly shook her head. 'I'm afraid if I do I'll miss my plane.' 'So what?' he cupped look into his intense gaze. 'Stay here with me.'

her heart pounded. this was what she was afraid of. every ounce of her being pleaded with her logical mind. 'I can't.' Carly pulled away, and her chest ached as if she'd torn her heart, leaving a part of it with him. 'I can't make a lifetime's decision based on one night.'

he took her hand, smoothing his thumb over her skin. 'Come now, you've known me longer than one night.' Carly rolled her eyes. 'almost two weeks, then.' Michelangelo kissed her fingers. 'Big difference.' 'no.' Carly took her hand back. 'You're tempting me.'

Michelangelo smiled, but it was sad. 'I had to try.' 'and I appreciate the offer.' Carly moved toward the door before she couldn't move any longer. 'I just need more time to think.' 'plane rides are good for that.'

Yes, but what he didn't understand was when she got on that plane, it would already be too late. Carly forced herself to open the door. 'thank you for everything.' Michelangelo nodded. 'Don't forget about me, or Italy.'

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Carly Davis an oboist has gotten the chance of a lifetime which is every American girls dream. She is on her way to tour and go on tour in Italy. Carly doesn't really want to go to Italy. All she wants is to stay at home to do what she loves doing and that is traveling around playing gigs for weddings ect... Carly's life dream is be the best oboist the world has ever seen or heard. She doesn't need anything else or anyone for that matter. But now she is in Italy with the Easthampton Civic Symphony orchestra touring Italy.

Carly doesn't have time to be running around Italy much less for a romance. But when she meets the orchestra's tour guide Michelangelo things might just start heading in a different direction for Carly. Sparks start to fly when the two of them look into each other's eyes. Both Carly and Michelangelo try their best to ignore the feelings they are having. They each try to blame it on something else. Neither one of them have time for a relationship. Michelangelo only has time for his vineyard and Carly for her career as an oboist.

Carly played her oboe while accompanied by another girl; Alaina who sings in the orchestra. Carly and Alaina never actually got along very well at all. Alaina was spoiled rich brat who I assume had always gotten what she wanted even if she had to buy it. Don't get me wrong Alaina could sing very well. Carly and Alaina both were good at what they did but playing an instrument is like writing about someone being in love if you don't know what love is. All Alaina needs is someone to love her and be her friend. At first I thought Alaina was nothing but a whiny brat. She had to be in control and she had to be the best dressed person around. If she didn't shine or if she didn't get the best guy around then she would go off and pout just like a two year old. But Alaina grows on you as the story flows along. Everybody deserves to be given a chance and may be they just need that one friend in life to help them along and I think Carly was that one friend that Alaina needed to help her bring out her good side that was their all along. Some people never get that opportunity to meet that one friend.

I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to read An American Girl in Italy. I have read a lot of Aubrie's books and have loved each and every one of them. When it comes to reading a book by Aubrie I will not ever pass up that chance. If I did then something bad is happening that I have no control over. Aubrie is one author that everyone needs to give a chance. When it comes to reading one of her books I don't even need to read the summary to know that I will love it. Thanks Aubrie for all of your hard work and giving us new books to read.
