BLURB:

The fifth book in the dark paranormal fantasy series, Eye Of The Storm.

With the king returned after twenty years absent, wolves across the country – even Europe – are coming out of hiding to show their support. And not a moment too soon, for dark shadows from the past are taking centre stage in the lives of the four who lead the Surrey pack.

Is the royal line corrupt? Where do storm-wielders truly come from? And how does an ancient Egyptian mythology fit into the confused present?

As the moon begins to wax once more, answers start to surface. However, they may come too late to save their species from extinction.

The bond between the mated four is stronger than ever; a future worth fighting for is within reach... But The Trident have a new leader – one who will do anything to survive. And the knowledge one old woman harbours could be enough to destroy everything.

Written in British English. Contains scenes of explicit sex and violence that some readers may find disturbing.

EXCERPT:

For the past two months, Lydia had intermittently cursed the sheer speed at which life had decided to take them all, but perhaps it had been a blessing, for the last two weeks of relative peace and quiet had allowed a gradual sinking in of the relentless events that had taken place.

She breathed in Taylor's aroma from where he sat in the passenger seat as she pulled Richard's large car into Lawrence's driveway – their driveway, she supposed, although it was still at times difficult to think of this huge estate as hers – and tried to conjure up … anything other than the slightly disorientating numbness inside her that wouldn't budge – like stuck grief turned to stone.

Taylor had told her about the police releasing her of suspicion. And about Brendan's funeral. She had waited for … something: joy, relief, some kind of unburdening to strike her at the news. But there had been nothing there as she'd offered Taylor a smile and packed her dance gear into her bag. Just a sense of futility about it all.

The moon was only two days into its gibbous cycle. Soon, the heat of mating would be all-consuming once more, what little control that remained, gone, so maybe, the detachment she felt was a blessing in disguise, too.

“Have you heard from Ryan?”

“Not since yesterday morning. No news is good news. He might be back as early as tomorrow. I know he wanted to be back before the moon started to wax again, so he's already running late.”

Lydia nodded. Even the prospect of Ryan's much needed return couldn't light her fuse.

“We're worried about you.”

She switched off the engine and the silence became louder than its rumble had been. There it was – the elephant that had sat in the room the past fourteen days. She smiled. “I'm fine.”

“Lydia…”

Her smile faded. “I don't know what to say. I'm not not fine, I'm just … I think I just need time.”

“Which we've given you, and still will, but it's not escaped anyone's notice that you're more withdrawn than usual, and, if I can speak bluntly, blocking us out.”

She frowned. “How else does privacy work with our mating?”

“I'm not sure it does,” he admitted, “which is a hard conclusion to reach, but maybe privacy isn't what any of us four really need anymore. Maybe it's about opening up, unconditional acceptance, helping each other…”

She didn't reply, but stared straight ahead out of the front windscreen.

His fingertips stroked the top of her hand, then he laced his fingers through her own.

“You've been unyielding in your belief in us ever since we all mated, even when none of us knew what the fuck was going on. You've been a source of strength, even if you don't realise it. Let us reciprocate.”

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Well we are back once again with Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan and Taylor. The four werewolves who are all mated to each other. Lydia loves all three of her mates very much but she loves them all in different ways for who they are. All four of the wolves have been through a lot in their life times before they knew each other. They all had their own hard roads they had to travel through. I don’t believe that this is a bad thing. I believe that they all had to go through what they did in their past to be the people they are today. If they had not experienced the things that they did in their past and were not the person they are now then they may not have bonded and mated with each other. I know they each lived a very hard life but it was theirs and they had to live it in order to love each other the way they do.

I have followed these four since the very beginning with Releasing Of The Wolf first and then secondly with Cry Of The Wolf and third with Heart Of The Wolf and then fourth with Return Of The Wolf and now with Rise Of The Wolf the fifth book in the Eye Of The Storm Series and I have loved each and every second of their journey. I finally found out what a storm-wielder is and how they came to be. It was an amazing and loving story about how storm-wielders came to be.

I loved each and every one of the characters in Rise Of The Wolf well with the exception of a few the characters that is. There was one character Selena that did somethings that she shouldn’t have done and hurt a lot of people. She had her reasons for doing the things she did and I don’t hold it against her. Almost anyone would have done the same things she did if their life was endanger as was hers.

Not only did I find out about storm-wielders I learned a lot about the characters’ lives and their past which gives me a great understanding of why they are the great people they have become. I can’t wait for book six to find out more and to see what they are all going to do  and how they are going to change things and make everyone’s lives. I am going to miss Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan, Taylor and all of the other characters too. They are going to stay in my heart for a long, long, long time. Eye Of The Storm Series has been unlike any books I have ever read. This has been the most amazing series of its kind ever. Dianna Hardy is an amazing author and is fantastic in writing in any genre. If you have not read any of her books then you need to give her a shot. Trust me you will not regret it. I would love to see all of her books on the big screen.
