Blurb:

Roxy Elliot is fed up with her non-existent love life. She is dying to turn in her V-card, but no matter how often she throws herself at a man, it never goes anywhere. If she didn't know any better, she might think she was cursed. Now, though, she's just been tapped to take her turn as the caretaker of the family business--a safehouse that caters to paranormal beings. She knows nothing about their next client, but the minute she sees him, she knows she's in trouble.

Donovan Warren is a battle-worn dragon who has danger on his trail. He needs a safehouse, and he needs it now, but the minute he meets the caretaker, he recognizes the risk. She's a maiden, and everyone knows dragons can't resist maidens. What everyone doesn't know--it's a dragon's lust that makes him lose control. Now, he has to resist the beautiful temptation of a woman who drives him to distraction in order to keep them both safe.

Yet, when someone…or something…threatens Roxy, Donovan soon finds himself embroiled in a situation he never saw coming. Thanks to a promise to a purple-haired pixie, he will fight to the death to protect the maiden who could be his destruction...or his salvation…as he becomes the Dragon Next Door.

My Review:

Roxy Elliot was raised by her uncle with three brothers. The family owns a safehouse for paranormal beings. A paranormal is in need of a safehouse and it is Roxy’s turn to open the safehouse and take care of their guest.

Roxy is a woman in her twenties and has never had sex and it is not because she has not tried. Roxy has thrown herself at the feet of a few men in her time but they all eventually leave with her still carrying the V-card. She is being to think she is a sex repellant or something.

Donovan Warren is in trouble with paranormal beings hot on his trail. He needs a safe place to hold up for a while. His best option at the moment is a safehouse for paranormal in Alaska. Once he arrives and meets the caretaker Donovan soon realizes that he may be in more trouble at the safehouse with the caretaker than he would be with the paranormal who are chasing him.

Roxy is a maiden and dragons can’t be around maidens because of their lust for a maiden. It is said that if a dragon is around a maiden he can’t resist her and will go berserk and smash everything around him and it could also be disastrous for Roxy as well.

When someone threatens Roxy and tries to take her Donovan makes a vow to protect Roxy with his life. Even though Donovan can’t be around Roxy of he will destroy everything around him the dragon in him will not let anyone harm her and if they do then things will start to heat up fairly quickly and someone is going to get burned.

Although this is the first book in the Love Next Door series that I have read it is not the first book by Cherie Marks that I have read and it won’t be the last. Cherie’s writing gets better and better with each book that I read. She knows how to grab a hold of you right from the first page of a book and will not let go until the very last word having you burning through the pages hot to know what is going to happen around the next corner.

The Dragon Next Door is filled with lots of hot scenes and wild adventures that will keep you hanging on for more. The description that Roxy gives for Donovan will have your tongue reaching out and slapping your brains out. She makes him sound so hot that you will think there is a dragon in the room with you.

If you like reading about dragons, fae, witches, and shape-shifters then you are going to love The Dragon Next Door.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

It all started with an old fashioned typewriter. When my family brought it home, I knew what I wanted to do. All those stories rolling around in my head could finally get out. The press and click of the keys were satisfying in their own right, but when I pulled out a finished page, I knew this was for me. Since then, I’ve graduated to a laptop, but the stories still find a way out.

I’m a breast cancer survivor, a teacher, a wife, a mother, and from the very beginning—a storyteller. Always a hint humorous and honest to a fault, I love to make people laugh, smile, and have “a-ha” moments. My goal in life is to achieve tact and stop procrastinating. The battle wages on.
