Review: Brokedown (A “Life of the Dead” Story) by Tony Urban @tonyurban
Brokedown
A “Life of the Dead”
Story
by Tony Urban
Genre: Horror,
Zombies
Blurb:
For bus driver Peggy Benoit, the apocalypse began as she was
driving her students home for the day. Trapped on the bus, far from safety, she
struggles to accept what's happening and how to fight back. She struggles to
accept what's happening and how to fight back.
Sneak Peak:
The closest of them were within four rows from her. Peggy
knew the proper thing to do would be to close the door and trap them inside
where they couldn't hurt anyone else. She wasn't a sea glamorous captain, but
this was her bus. It wasn't a glamorous job or a well-paying one, but she'd
always taken pride in it nonetheless. And if her ship was going down, wasn't
she supposed to go down with it? She started to close the door. The hinges
writhed with a pained screech.
For Peggy Benoit the zombie apocalypse started as she was
driving the students home when she hears a scream and she looks into the rear
view mirror and to her horror the kids are going crazy they are eating each
other and now they want to eat her. Peggy doesn’t know if she should stay on
the bus with them or run for her life.
I love me some zombies so when the opportunity to get a
glimpse into the Life of the Dead universe presented itself I jumped on that
train immediately. After reading Brokedown I can’t wait to start reading the
Life of the Dead series.
Brokedown is a great introduction to the Life of the Dead
series that gives us an idea of what to expect in this world. It has more
zombies than you can shake a stick at and I loved it. I can’t wait to read more
of this world.
