Circle of Roses, Book 3
Paranormal
Date Published: July 22, 2024
Narrator: Kelly McGaw
Run Time: 4 hours 13 minutes
Lana is a psychic ghost hunter working in the Circle of Roses shop. She wants to help solve a case when a man’s wife leaves him because of ghosts tormenting her in the attic, but she ends up with a haunting dilemma of her own. Terra’s ghost is haunting one of her teens in her small townhouse.
Sylvie and Dana are teenagers who just want to live but when Sylvie’s room is repeatedly thrashed, psychic Rose is called to investigate. She knows Terra from way back and thinks she wants more revenge, but why is the other teen, Dana, not affected? Sylvie and Dana have their own group called the Rosebuds. Started when they were kids, they wind up the only two in it. When old enough they will go into training to become real psychics. As for this story it is their first everything, except their first time seeing a ghost. How long can Terra’s ghost be kept a secret from Dana? And will Rose be able to solve both cases at once?
Interview with Martha Wickham
Have you read anything that made you think differently about fiction?
Yes, a little. I have been reading books with short horror stories by Blair Daniels. They are scary, engaging, and seem true.
How do you select the names of your characters?
I just look up interesting names on the internet. Names like Lana, Hattie, and Jack are all good.
Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
No but that sounds really cool.
What was your hardest scene to write?
The beginning of The Mystery of Frankenstein’s Bride. I’m still wanting to perfect that story. It felt like I wasn’t sure what time period it was.
Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
I have stand alones and a few series. I like series. You can build when you want.
What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them?
To carry on the stories. I want my ghost stories to be scary. I think I have achieved that.
What inspired you to write The Haunted Rosebuds?
It’s a series. I had ended the book mentioning if something bad happened to Sylvie and Dana so I decided the next book would be about that.
Can you tell us a little bit about the next books in The Haunted Rosebuds or what you have planned for the future?
I’m not writing now but when I do I intend to carry on my series'.
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Haunted Rosebuds?
Dana and Sylvie are troubled teens. Their mom is a psychic and they want to be one as well. They call themselves the Rosebuds.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
When the outline was completed I was happy. I loved writing it, especially creating the ghosts.
