A
Vacation From Hell
The
Hell Bound Series Book 1
by
Kathy Dinisi
Genre:
Horror, Thriller
Hell
Bound is the first Novella in a post-apocalyptic series.
How
far would you go to save your family?
Sam
and Mathew finally get a chance to go on a train ride to the Grand
Canyon-- alone. Leaving their two kids back in California, they are
excited for a weekend of rest.
When
a zombie Apocalypse breaks out, the couple must try to fight their
way back to California to see if their kids are still alive. In this
harrowing story of love and survival in a world that is crumbling by
death and destruction, we follow Sam and Mathew through their
struggle to reunite with their children.
Sam and her husband Mathew have a three day vacation
planned. They are going to see the Grand Canyon. They plan to leave their two
boys with Sam’s parents while they are gone. Sam is kind of excited to have
three days alone with her husband. She is looking forward to having some grown
up time and grown up conversation.
One of the things they have planned is a train ride and once
the train has started and they are given the ok to move around they plan on
going to the train cart for something to eat but before they can make it to
their destination chaos breaks out with all the passengers trying to find the
closes exit.
There are screams coming from the front of the train. Sam
and Mathew have no idea at first what is going on as they can’t see the front
of the train with all the people blocking the way but when they run so do Sam
and Mathew.
When they finally make their way to an exit and get off the
train they run to the woods where they meet up with a lady Katrina or Kat who
works on the train. Once they exit the train they take the time to hide and
look around trying to figure out what is going. Once they see what all the chaos
is all about they are shocked and can’t believe their eyes. What they see is
people chasing people trying to eat them.
Sam and Mathew start making plans to get back to their boys
as quick as possible and ask Kat to go with them. Kat’s sister was supposed to
pick her up after work but when she calls to check on her she doesn’t get an
answer. Kat decides to tag alone with Sam and Mathew to California. So when she
doesn’t hear from her sister she leaves her a voicemail explaining where she
will be and tells her to meet her there.
A Vacation From Hell may be a little on the short side but
it packs a lot of punch. It has zombies and action packed on almost every page.
I couldn’t wait to pick it up and once I did it was on. I sort of goofed up by
starting it when I went to bed. Yeah I like to read sometimes before I fall
asleep. But starting this book when you go to bed and then have to get up the
next day for a doctor’s appointment is not a good idea. So when I finally made
myself stop reading so I could get a little sleep I couldn’t turn my mind off
because I kept thinking about it. I kept telling myself that I had to go to
sleep so I could get up and read more of it before I left for the doctor’s
appointment and then I could read more at the doctor’s office because I wasn’t
the one having to see the doctor.
A Vacation From Hell grabbed my attention from the first
page and never let go. I raced from page to page rooting for Sam and Mathew as
they raced to get home to their boys fighting zombies all the way and meeting
new people. A Vacation From Hell is one of those books I never want to end but
when it did I wasn’t to unhappy as I had the next book A World Apart waiting
for me.
A Vacation From Hell was such a great introduction into the
Hell Bound Series and the world of zombies. I have never seen zombies quiet
like the zombies in A Vacation From Hell as they are unique. The author threw a
twist on the zombies. They are smarted than your average zombie and they are
learning every day.
Come join Sam, Mathew and Kat as they race across the
country fighting zombies at every stop as they make their way back to their
boys. For me reading A Vacation From Hell was like The Walking Dead meets Z
Nation. If you are into zombies like I am and I love me some zombies and you
also like the two show mentioned then you will love, love, love A Vacation From
Hell.
A
World Apart
The
Hell Bound Series Book 2
Mathew
and Sam fought their way back home to where their kids were supposed
to be waiting. Instead they find out they have already moved on with
Sam’s parents to seek safety.
Now
they are in a rush to be back with their kids, fighting hordes of
flesh eating zombies ,gaining and losing friends along the way.
In
a world full of death and destruction where the dead come to life and
the living are just as bad as the dead, will Mathew and Sam find
their kids before its too late or die trying?
After arriving at her parents’ home Sam and Mathew find the
house empty. Her parents and her boys are gone and have no idea where they are
or what to do.
But they have been hearing this guy on the radio giving out
information about what is going on and about the zombies ever since the world
started getting sick and changing. On the radio Steve tells everyone to go to
their local high school as the military has set up safe places for people to
go.
When they finally reach the high school they learn that they
are too late as their family is no longer there. The school was overrun by
zombies and everyone was moved to another safe place in Maryland.
Sam, Mathew and Kat decide to get some rest at the school
before heading out to Maryland. They also need to restock their supplies before
heading out. Just when they thought they were safe they learn that there may
not be a safe place anywhere as zombies are running amok in the school and they
lose some of their friends in the chaos that takes place.
As Sam and Mathew make their way across the country to
Maryland they have to be more conning and swift now as the zombies are getting
smarter and smarter.
A World Apart picks up right where the first book A Vacation
From Hell left off with Mathew and Sam looking for their boys. A World Apart
takes up deep into zombie land where the zombies are faster, smarter and more
conning their selves setting traps and ambushing the people. A World Apart has
just as much action and zombie killing if not more than A Vacation From Hell.
Oh no there are zombies everywhere.
A World Apart is a short faced paced read that is packed
with lots of information and world building with lots and lots of zombie
killing. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t I read the
whole thing in one sitting at the doctor’s office. I never wanted it to end but
when it did I wasn’t to upset as I had the next book Till Death Do Us Part
ready and waiting for me.
I would highly recommend A World Apart to all zombie fans
and anyone who likes The Walking Dead and zombies…..
Till
Death Do Us Part
The
Hell Bound Series Book 3
Sam
and Mathew have come so far to receive the bad news that the safe
haven is no longer safe. No one can tell them where their kids are.
Trained soldiers have retreated, and all are too scared to fight
against the raging zombies. A stranded Soldier offers them his help
to find their family but will it be enough to fight all the obstacles
in their way? Can Mathew and Sam survive their last journey?
Our little merry band of survivors is still trying to make
their way across a zombie filled world looking for loved ones. Sam and Mathew
have not found their boys as of yet. Each and every safe place they have come
to thinking their boys and family are there has been overrun by zombies. But
they have not given up hope and are still fighting zombies and humans alike
trying to make their way to their boys.
I fell in love with the Hell Bound series with the first
book A Vacation From Hell and it just kept getting better and better with each
book. There is zombie action in every book that will leave you wanting more.
I could just see how the author’s writing style and world
building and zombie twist and the characters just keep getting better and
better. I could see and feel the compassion and the love that all the characters
felt. I could laugh with them and I could cry with them or I would have if I
had not been in a doctor’s office. There were times when I found myself with
the tears all most falling but I kept swallowing and swallowing to keep from it
(I don’t like people to see me cry) but it was rough. The ending was just
perfect I never saw it coming and wish it could have turned out differently but
let me say it worked.
This has been one of the best series that I have read in a
very long time. It has been a while since I read a zombie book and I am so, so
glad that I had the opportunity to read the Hell Bound Series as I love me some
zombies and can never seem to get enough of them. I can’t wait to check out
more of this author’s books.
If you like zombies, action, zombie killing, blood and gore
with a new twist on the zombies then you will love Till Death Do Us Part. If
you have not done so already then let me suggest that you start with book one A
Vacation From Hell and then book two A World Apart before reading Till Death Do
Us Part book 3 in order to get a better understanding as to what is going on in
the Hell Bound world of zombies and how it all started and also for more joyful
experiment.
The
End is Near
The
Hell Bound Series Book 4
Three
years after the apocalypse Sam and her three kids continue their life
in the safe haven. Well,as safe as they can be. The military is at a
constant battle to keep the walls standing but the zombie herd just
keeps growing stronger by each passing day and keeps finding their
way into the compound that once protected everyone.
Supplies
are running low, weapons are far and few. Now Sam must help a group
of soldiers find weapons and food. Her journey continues with her
fighting to save the only home she has left and the only family still
living.
The
End Is Near is the fourth book in the Hell Bound series but can be
read as a standalone. To understand Sam's story you may want to read
the Hell Bound series from the beginning.

It’s been three years since zombies first started roaming
the Earth and it just seems to get worst instead of better. Sam and her three
kids are safe behind the walls of the Safe Haven but once in a while zombies do
manage to find a way inside the walls.
One day when zombies find a way in and chaos sets in behind
the walls. Once the zombies have been taken care of and everything returns to
normal or what normal is these days they find that there were a lot of people
injured and the hospital is running low on supplies. Safe Haven is also running
low on food and other supplies as well. A team has been gathered to go out to
search for the supplies needed so they can restock. Sam decides to go with the
search team to look for medical supplies as she will know more about the meds
that are needed.
Sam and the soldiers have a long hard road ahead of them
fighting zombies along the way. Something is not quite right with the zombies
they run into; no these zombies are acting differently, they have evolved in
some way and they are so much faster now than they were in the beginning.
The End is Near is filled with action and suspense on nearly
every page with a lot of zombie killing. I have read every book in the Hell Bound
Series and loved each and every one of them but I do love me some zombies. I
can’t seem to get enough of zombies.
I have found myself another favorite author. Oh yeah I have
now added Kathy to the top of my favorite authors list. I can’t wait to check
out more of her books. Kathy is one of those authors who can make you feel as
if you are right there with the characters and you can feel what the characters
are feeling. When reading one of her books you can see it playing out in your
head like a movie. Oh yeah and I would love to see the Hell Bound Series on the
big screen.
If you like shows like The Walking Dead or Z Nation then you
are going to love The End is Near. The End is Near can be read as stand-alone
but I would highly suggest that you read the other books in the series so that
you up where they are now.
