Virtual Tour + #Giveaway: Seductive Suspect by Thea Landen @TheaLanden @GoddessFish

Seductive Suspect
by Thea Landen
GENRE:  Erotic Romance, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense, Contemporary Romance

BLURB:

A murder mystery weekend goes awry when the guests start dying for real. Veronica is desperate to survive and escape, but can’t deny her growing attraction to Adam, the handsome man staying in the room next door. Can she trust his intentions, or has she wound up in the arms of a cold-blooded killer?

Excerpt:

Adam glanced at where Ruth and Laura stood by the stove and lowered his voice. “Putting aside the fact you haven’t ruled me out as a suspect, what’s your read on the others?”

“You mean do I think those two are poisoning the pasta right now?”

He laughed. “I’m curious whether your perceptions are similar to mine or not.”

I pondered his question and cut into a third tomato. “That’s the thing. Nobody stands out to me as having the potential to be a cold-blooded murderer. All the other guests seem like regular, everyday people. People I might run into anywhere and not give it a second thought.”

“I agree.” He peeked over his shoulder again. “So, what about the staff?”

“What, you think Brittany’s ditzy comments are an act and she’s secretly plotting to kill us all?”

A grin spread across his face. “Maybe. She could even actually be French, for all we know.”

I put down the knife and raised an eyebrow. “Are you serious?”

“No.” His smile disappeared, and he resumed chopping the cucumbers. “What about Victor? He seems to know the most about this place and would have the easiest time carrying out his plans. Besides, don’t these stories always end with ‘the butler did it’?”

I shook my head. “I saw his reaction when the lights came back on and Jeremy was dead. He appeared genuinely shocked.”

“Okay. So that leaves the other guests.” Adam moved his cutting board over and opened a bag of pre-cut lettuce. “If you had to guess, who would it be?” The corners of his mouth turned up, and I saw a hint of dimples. “And I promise my feelings won’t be hurt if it’s me.”

Interview with Thea Landen

What inspired you to write Seductive Suspect?

My favorite book is And Then There Were None and my favorite movie is Clue – I apparently like the old-fashioned whodunnit-type mysteries! I always joked that I’m not smart enough to write a good mystery, and besides, I’m a romance writer, anyway. Finally, it occurred to me to combine those two genres. I aimed for a fun, light tone, similar to Clue, but I still wanted the emotions to be realistic, considering there’s a murderer on the loose. I hope I managed to strike the right balance!

Can you tell us a little bit about what you have planned for the future?

Right now, I’m working on sort of the spiritual successor to my previous book, Elysium. The plots of both books involve virtual reality and death, but the characters and their situations are quite different. After that, I’m going to attempt my first dystopian story (involving a romance, of course!).

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Seductive Suspect?

Sure thing! Veronica, the main character and narrator, is a graphic designer in her 30s. She’s friendly, though not overly outgoing, and is smarter and more perceptive than she gives herself credit for. Adam, our dashing male lead, is confident and charming, but Veronica’s never quite sure if she should trust him, or if he’s hiding any secrets.

Beyond the two main characters, there’s a wide and varied cast, and I admit to having some fun playing around with tropes when I created them. There’s the know-it-all butler, the ditzy French maid, the sexy librarian, the antisocial gamer, and so on.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
If I have to choose only one, I think I’ll go with Agatha Christie. There’s just something about curling up with a cozy mystery that’s both relaxing and exciting, and she was the best. Really, I envy her brilliant mind.

If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?

Definitely the future. I already know what happened in the past, I’d love to see what new and exciting things the future holds. Are flying cars a thing yet? Have we made contact with other intelligent life? Have we achieved a perfect society, or is everything a complete disaster in need of help?

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

No pets at the present time. I have two toddlers that I have to feed, entertain, and chase around, and that keeps me busy enough!

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.
