Book Description:
Everything you know about magic is
wrong. It's real, deadly, and inescapable.
An all new Urban Fantasy Thriller by
award-winning author Katie Salidas. A Weapon of Magical Destruction combines
elements of Agents of SHIELD with The Magicians and City of Bones.
Sage Cynwrig knows her way around a
pair of twenty-sided dice, and has forgotten more spells than you'll ever know.
But when her mother is killed by a weapon of magical destruction, fantasy
merges into a strange new reality. Her birthmark morphs into the Tree of Life,
her boss goes full troll (warts and all), vampires start hitting on her, and
shadowhunters stalk her in the darkness. Magic is no longer a game. It's real,
deadly, and inescapable!
Had Sage been warned about her special
lineage, before her mother's murder, she might have agreed to join the
Anonymous Supernatural Security and Elimination Taskforce (A.S.S.E.T). When
agent Grey Maddox shows up to recruit Sage - filling her head with stories of
an ancient race of people chosen by the gods and uniquely gifted to withstand
the forces of magic - she dismisses him as a fraud.
The truth about Sage's lineage comes
crashing down around her when a supernatural pick-up artist tries to kill her.
Bearing the mark of the Tree of Life puts a huge target on Sage's head.
With the weapon still at large, and
strange faerie-like creatures popping up all around her, figuring out who to
trust is priority number one. Only then can Sage find the key to neutralizing
the weapon before its deadly power is unleashed again.
My Review:
After the death of her mother Sage Cynwrig’s life changes
for ever. She is thrown into a world of magic with magical creatures and
magical weapons. There are fairies, pixies, vampires among others. Sage can’t
believe her eyes.
After her mother’s death Sage learns that her mother kept a
lot of secrets from her. She finds out that her mother was a part of this
magical world and had magical powers of her own that she has passed down to Sage.
Her mother’s death is very hard on Sage and she sees her mother everywhere she
looks and in everything she sees her mother’s presence is all around her.
Sage is approached by different individuals telling her all
about her mother’s world and explaining to Sage who and what she is and what is
expected of her now. The Agents of A.S.S.E.T. want Sage to join them but she
doesn’t trust them and is not too keen on joining their little club.
I kind of think that one of Sage’s reasons for not joining
the Agents of A.S.S.E.T. is because her mother worked there and that would be
one more place she would see her mother everywhere. Sage doesn’t believe in
this magic hocus pocus stuff so why would she want to work for them.
When Sage is attacked in a dark alley one night things start
to change for her and she starts to see things in a different light and decides
that maybe she had been a little to jumpy in not joining up with the Agents of
A.S.S.E.T. and that joining them may be the only choice she has if she is to
stay alive and find out more about what is going on why people are after her.
A Weapon of Magical Destruction is a very intense and
magically enthralling read filled with action and suspense on every page that
will pull you end from the beginning and won’t let go until the end. I just
loved all the characters especially Matt and the fairies and pixies and the
things they were capable of doing to stay hidden from the humans. I can’t wait
to find out more about these magical beings and to meet more of them. I also
can’t wait to get to more about Sage, Matt, Devon, Grey and maybe even Zack.
Yeah I would like to more about the vampires and their lives.
A Weapon of Magical Destruction is a fantastic introduction
into the world of Agents of A.S.S.E.T. Series. I would definitely recommend A
Weapon of Magical Destruction to all fans of magic.

Magic is Wrong!
Book Description:
Just when newly minted ASSET agent
Sage Cynwrig thought she was getting the hang of this whole magic thing, a
smooth-talking Djinn moves in next door. And he's got more on his mind than
making her wishes come true.
He'll have to take a number. Between
her sharp-tongued, machete wielding partner Grey, and Zack the flirtatious
vampire-for-hire, Sage has enough magical men making her life hell.
And then there's the new job. It's all
hands on deck at ASSET. Magical creatures are disappearing from the Las Vegas
Strip. Rumor has it, the missing creatures are ingredients in a forbidden
magical recipe. Someone's attempting to recreate the lost Amulet of Emmuri, and
gain power to rival the gods.
Because of course Sage's first
official assignment as an agent would require her to, you know, save the world!
To accomplish that, however, she'll
have to cross enemy lines and break the very magical laws she just swore to
uphold.

My Review:
Sage has finally joined the agents at Agents of A.S.S.E.T.
where she will be working with Grey. Sage and Grey don’t get along very well as
they are always arguing about one thing or another bickering back and forth
most of the time. Sage is still not thrilled about being an agent but knows
this is her destiny the same as it was her mother. Sage wants to save the world
from evil, people who use magic for the bad instead of for the good. Her first assignment
is a missing person case; magical folks are disappearing with no trace of when
or how.
Sage has a new neighbor a Djinn named Luke who has just
moved into her apartment building right next door. It is kind of a coincidence
that Luke moves in just as magical people are disappearing. Luke seems to be a
nice guy who wants nothing more than to help Sage and to be her friend. But
most Djinn’s are not to be trusted besides Sage has not worked out who she can
trust and who she can’t in the magical world at this moment. Is Luke the nice
guy he seems to be or is there more to his story that he is revealing? Does he
have anything to do with the missing people?
Things start to take a turn for the worse when Sage’s best
friend and roommate Matt goes missing. Where is Matt? Did someone take him? Is
he missing? Why would someone want to take Matt? Matt is such a nice guy who
would never hurt a flea. Sage will not let anyone or anything stop her from
finding Matt no matter what the cost may be.
A Taste of Your Own Magic is a very enthralling read that
had me hooked from the first word. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down I
had to keep reading to know how it was all going to end. With all the magical
creatures and Matt disappearing the race was on then and the excitement and
tension just kept pouring out of the pages keeping me flipping and flipping.
The world building for Agents of A.S.S.E.T. is phenomenal
and magical. It will sweep you into its world and having racing after the
characters to see what they are up to. It will have you feeling and seeing what
the characters are and have you thinking that you are a part of their world.
I highly recommend A Taste of Your Own Magic to anyone who
likes reading about magic and the people who use it or not. Pick up your copy
and disappear into its world like some
of the characters.
