Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine-from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond...

Edie's just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she's haunted by the man's dying words—Save Anna—and before she knows it, she's on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead. Which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul.

Grey's Anatomy was never like this...

"Cassie Alexander's first book about Nurse Edie Spence is dark and energetic. You'll really enjoy it; I'm looking forward to reading the others in the series."—Charlaine Harris, New York Times bestselling author of The Southern Vampire Mysteries that True Blood is based on.

My Review:

Edie Spence is the newest nurse on the night shift on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital. Y4 is where vampires, zombies, and all other paranormal creatures are treated. Edie did not know that paranormal creatures existed until she was offered a job on Y4.

She was offered the job on Y4 in exchange for her brother being taken care of. Edie’s brother is an addict. Edie was promised that her brother would stay sober if she took the job on Y4. Easy peasy no problem right? Well, not so easy when you consider who the patients are. Edie had no idea that vampires, were-things, or zombies even existed until she took the job on Y4.

Edie was trying to get through her shift when one of her patients a vampire turns to dust right before her eyes. Edie is haunted by the man's last words. “Anna”. Edie believes that her patient was asking her to save someone named Anna.

Edie decides to give it her best shot and goes in search of Anna. Her investigations lead her to a vampire den. Once inside her life is in danger but that doesn’t stop Edie from finding Anna and helping her to escape. She helps her escape alright.

Yeah, Anna runs straight out the door sending Edie looking for her all over again so she can try to keep her safe and keep a promise to a dying patient. Trying to save Anna has now put Edie’s life in danger. Someone is hunting Edie. What has she got herself into?

When I read the summary for Nightshifted I was overjoyed to see that it was about a nurse and a hospital and it involved vampires, zombies, weres, and other paranormal creatures. A book that would combine some of my favorite TV shows like The Walking Dead, Bitten, Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy, Chicago Med, New Amsterdam and so many more. I was enchanted from the beginning. I couldn’t wait to jump right in.

I was hooked from that first page. Nightshifted was remarkably well written making it so easy to see everything as it played out in my head. All the tension and suspense kept me glued to my seat not being able to flip those pages fast enough wanting more and more. The world-building was incredibly well done. I can’t wait for more from this remarkable world of combing the paranormal with first responders. I can’t wait to see what lies between the pages of Moonshifted book two in the Edie Spence series.

If you like books or TV shows like The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries, Chicago Med, or Grey’s Anatomy then you are going to love Nightshifted. Grab your copy of Nightshifted today and be transformed into a new world!
