Excerpt:

I hit a wall. A solid, warm wall that smells dreadfully sinful. Before I have time to process, two firm hands are on my shoulders to steady me. “Hey, watch where you’re going” comes the deepest, sexiest voice imaginable, which would be incredibly hot if the words spoken were anything other than rude and demanding. Looking up, which is crazy, considering I’m one step higher, I freeze as my eyes land on a dark, handsome god of a man who looks like he wants to commit murder. What is it with me and jerks tonight?

His eyes get bigger, and his brows furrow as soon as my shocked gaze meets his. He has short black hair that’s longer on the top and styled perfectly. His menacing eyebrows are folded downward from scowling at me. The dark scruff that shadows his face is so sexy, trimmed razor straight, accentuating his perfectly chiseled jaw. Mentally slapping myself, I apologize.

Crap, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you there.” He doesn’t release his hold.

That’s because your head was down. Your eyes should be looking forward.” His voice is hard and demanding.

Flustered and—I reluctantly admit—slightly turned on by his strong, firm grip and penetrating stare, I stand there frozen in place. After what seems like minutes but I’m sure is only seconds, I snap out of it and apologize again. “Sorry, I’ll watch where I’m going from now on.” The words rush out as I pull away to leave, this time keeping my head up. I think I hear him say something else behind me, but I don’t stop. Running into one of the hottest guys I’ve seen in a while should’ve been the highlight of my night. Instead, I’m more irritated. Do all good-looking men have a license to be an ass?

Interview with Bethany Rosa

What inspires you?

Passion. Feeling passion and inspiring it in others. I’ve used romance novels as marriage advice over the last several years whenever given the opportunity. I’ve been with my husband for 27 years, and reading romance was not always a part of my life. There were times I was too busy with a successful career and then while raising four daughters. But I can honestly say, looking back, it’s apparent when reading was and wasn’t a part of my life and how much happier we are when it is.

What did you do on your last birthday?

For the last 20 years, I’ve been in a different city every birthday because it coincides with Spring Break. We are big travelers, and ever since our first daughter was in school, we go on vacation every school holiday, which means we were flying or already somewhere else when the day arrived. Last year, I was on a plane and landed in Elbow Cay, Bahamas, to celebrate that evening with our friends.

What part of the writing process do you dread?

Editing! It’s a necessary evil, and I'm absolutely over it by the fifth time through.

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

I do, and I think it comes more from procrastination. If I get stuck, I put it off, but if I just force myself to power through, I can go back and change it later. I have not perfected that discipline yet and will go a few days at a time without writing, then beat myself up about it.

Tell us about your latest release.

Pursuit of Innocence is a very steamy debut romance novel. It’s a love triangle between Lily, who’s about to graduate from college, her childhood crush, Jackson, who finally makes a move on his sister's best friend, and Sebastian, a playboy billionaire who, against his better judgment, can’t seem to leave Lily alone. She’s torn between the two through most of the book while also dealing with her jerk of a boss and unwanted attention from a classmate. The book opens with a prologue alluding to Lily being kidnapped, which leaves readers wondering when it will happen and which one of the male characters it will be. This is a coming-of-age romance with Lily discovering passion while navigating this new segment in her life. The book is best suited for readers who like a lot of spice in their books with an alpha male main character and thought-provoking scenarios.
