The Savory Mystery Series is definitely a page turner!
Chicago detective Piper Sandstone is about to embark on her most dangerous mission ever while hiding in Savory, Alabama. With a price placed on her head by some dirty cops, Piper is forced to go undercover as a waitress at a local café. But when a dognapping and murder shake up the local community, Piper fiinds herself tangled in the mystery. Now, she must hide her unique talents and maintain her cover if she wants to make it home alive.
Savory, better known as Alligator Alley, is not your typical tourist Gulf Coast town. Why? Because it's home to the three-time AKC champion poodle Victory Cup Valentino, but this year bad things are about to go down. Even before Piper can get unpacked, there is a murder, and the poodle goes missing right before the Westminster Dog Show. But before she can get any answers, all hell breaks loose when a body turns up in the bayou and she’s at the center of the crime scene. To top things off, the handsome sheriff is asking too many questions.
Fortunately for Piper, a group of sweet older ladies known as the Dentures and Diamonds Crime Squad is on her side. These quirky amateur sleuths are a force to be reckoned with and they’ve taken a special interest in Piper’s unique skills. Now, they must join forces to solve the mystery and catch the killer before another Savory resident winds up dead.
Red Beans and RIP, the second installment in the Savory Mystery Series, is a fun, suspenseful cozy mystery that will keep you riveted to your seat with twists and turns that you won’t see coming.
Grab your copy, get comfy, and enjoy a mystery you won’t forget.
My Review:
Red Beans and RIP is the second book in the Piper Sandstone Savory series by Karen McSpade. Red Beans and RIP is a sweet and cozy mystery that was just as good if not better than the first book Murder And Grits.
I am enjoying reading about Piper a detective from Chicago. Piper was sent to live in Savory, Alabama after turning in some dirty cops. Piper finds trouble so to speak on her first day in Savory. Piper is trying to lay low but of course a case has found her.
Piper with the help of the local sheriff and the Dentures and Diamonds Crime Squad, a group of older ladies like Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote and Madeline Matlock in the new series Matlock.
The Dentures and Diamonds Crime Squad ladies will keep you entertained for hours if nothing else in the story does. But I am here to tell you that Red Beans and RIP has a lot more to offer like a bunch of twists and turns that will surprise every time.
Piper is still searching for a champion poodle and his handler, Susan Tate while trying to solve a couple of murders. In the middle of her investigation Piper is called back to Chicago. Piper is thrilled to be returning home. Piper is ready to return home and get back to being herself and her job. Is it over? Will Piper be able to return home for good?
But what about everyone in Savory, Alabama? The people there are starting to grow on Piper. Is Savory starting to become her home? Or will she be returning to her home in Chicago?
That is just as much a mystery as the missing champion poodle and the murders in Red Beans and RIP in Savory, Alabama. Where is the poodle? Where is his trainer? The suspense of not knowing keeps the pages turning.
I recommend grabbing a copy of Red Beans and RIP and continuing the Piper Sandstone Savory Mystery Series today!
