This historical fiction novel follows the Kerrigan family from 1847 through
five generations as they migrate from Ireland to the United States.
Confronting nearly every obstacle imaginable, the Kerrigan family has risen
to power and accumulated unimaginable wealth, continuously growing the
company that was founded by James Kerrigan after he arrived in the U.S.
However, more than one hundred years later, the Kerrigan clan now finds
itself facing its greatest challenge yet, which threatens to tear apart both
the family and its financial empire. It is an unimaginable betrayal that
leaves a once-indestructible family suddenly more vulnerable than they have
ever been before.

What is the underlying message of your book? There is no intrinsic message incorporated in the book, so if you're looking for such a message, you've got the wrong book. My goal was to write a book that would accomplish two very distinct things. First and most importantly, the reader never wants to put the book down. The reader loves the characters and the story, but she or he never wants it to end. And second, when the reader is finally finished with the book, they are sad it's over, but they know it was one of the best stories they have ever read.
What genre would you describe your book as?
Celtic Betrayal is a novel that covers five generations of the Kerrigan family over a period of one hundred fifty years. And although the family members are fictional characters, the story occurs in the real world, with real people, and they are fully integrated with actual historical events. With all that said, the book is a thriller; it's riddled with lust, romance, love, hate, greed, murder, and vengeance, and there is adventure galore; however, if you're looking for the short answer, let's call it historical fiction.
What's ONE exciting thing about your book you want the whole world to know?
No matter how much misery, deception, greed, and betrayal are waiting for you out there, good will ultimately prevail if you trust in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The story of the Kerrigan family begins in Ireland in 1847, at a time when the country was struggling with the potato famine and living under harsh British domination. Immediately following the death of his wife and two daughters, James Kerrigan and his friend Sean are forced to flee Ireland to avoid being caught and hanged for killing three Britons who were responsible for the death of James' wife and daughter. Winding up on a ship bound for America, James and Sean befriend a family, and that relationship deepens when James jumps into the icy-cold Atlantic Ocean to save their young daughter from drowning. So, how does an impoverished 20-year-old Irish lad who had just lost his entire family and was also homeless and penniless become one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in America nearly eighty years later?
Growing up, my father was my greatest fan. He kept telling me that the world was my oyster and I could do anything I wanted to do. When I started to think about writing Celtic Betrayal, I never once doubted I could do it, but when my imagination took over, I knew that could have only been the Lord's handiwork, making sure I did not fail to use one of the gifts that he gave me.
What about your book makes you the most excited?
As a lawyer, I've done many things that made me feel prideful; however, with God's help in fueling my imagination, there is nothing in my life that I am more proud of than I am of this novel. Now that it's finally finished and published, making it available for everyone to read is the most exciting part of the journey for me.
