Publisher:  Entangled Teen Crush

1)    Take things slow (her rule)
2)    Make it believable (his rule)

After tragedy hit her family, Meg Matthews officially crossed the line from “good girl” to “bad girl.” Motorcycle? Check. Graffiti? Check. The only thing Meg hadn’t planned on was blackmail. Too bad now a certain infuriating boy holds Meg’s future in his hands…
When Luke Prescott—star pitcher and town golden boy—catches Meg vandalizing the school, she’s given two choices: face the consequences or enter into a fake relationship with him to get his parents and his ex off his back.
But as Meg and Luke grow closer, they both realize they’ve been keeping secrets from each other. Their fake relationship might be doomed from the start—if they can’t learn to open up to the one person they never thought they’d trust.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains late-night graffiti sessions, flirty baseball lessons, and a never-ending list of relationship rules just made to be broken.

Interview with Amity Hope

What inspired you to write The Rules of Persuasion?

It all started with a water tower...There’s a water tower in my town that I’ve always thought would be sort of easy to climb. How fun would that be?! Never mind that I’m a complete rule follower and afraid of heights. The idea eventually led to living vicariously through my characters, after giving them reason to climb, of course. Obviously there’s a lot more to the story than that, but it all stemmed from the tower.

Can you tell us a little bit about what you have planned for the future?

I have several projects underway at any given time. Right now I’m primarily concentrating on a young adult, dark fantasy. I love fantasy novels and have wanted to write one for quite some time.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Rules of Persuasion?

Meg’s home life is a bit of a mess. Her once happy family is dealing with the recent death of her little sister. She’s looking for ways to escape and has found that escape by taking off on her Rebel and dabbling in graffiti.

Luke’s life might look perfect from the outside, but he’s constantly struggling to deal with his overbearing parents. He has zero respect for his dad, who is determined that Luke will follow in his footsteps.

Luke has an ulterior motive for blackmailing Meg. Though she resents him at first, he slowly wins her over and they realize there’s more to the other person than the originally thought.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

I adore C. J. Redwine. I think she’s a brilliant writer. I love her Courier's Daughter trilogy. I’m always anxiously awaiting her next release. Though I’ve primarily written contemporary, I absolutely adore any type of fantasy.

If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?

I’d love to visit the late 1940s. Specifically, I’d love to visit with my grandparents. They began dating shortly before the start of World War II. My grandpa was stationed in the Philippines, which was brutally attacked immediately after Pearl Harbor. He spent approximately three horrific years as a POW. Grandma, though she only heard from him twice, never gave up hope. It’s such a beautiful love story, and so indicative of that era. I would love to visit with them and learn more.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

I have two cats, Sasha and Josie. They came from the Humane Society and like all cats, they have little attitudes. I also have Daisy, the sweetest Rottweiler in the world.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.

Thank you so much for having me! I appreciate it!
