Elemental Lies (Essential Elements #2)
by
Elle Middaugh
Genre: YA Fantasy Romance
Release Date: July 24th 2017
Pronoun

Summary:

Valerie Moore is an Elemental, a person who commands one of the classical elements of wind, water, fire, or earth. She’s special, though. She controls two—fire and water—though sometimes it seems like they control her

After the accidental exposure of Elementals to humanity, Valerie finds herself—and all of her kind—struggling to attain equality. Three different groups fight to secure leadership, and with all of their hidden agendas, she doesn’t know which side to choose. The balance between peaceful cohabitation and all-out war is precarious, at best.

When a chance meeting brings Val and earth Elemental Cade Landston back together, everything changes. She realizes what she knew in the beginning—that he’s the one she wants. Her desire to win him over draws her closer to him, and his vengeful mission to hunt down her murderous grandfather brings them both closer to trouble.

From mysterious doppelgangers to reckless rescue missions, scapegoat bombings, and evolving Elemental powers, Valerie strains to keep up.

All she knows is she must stop her grandfather at all costs. To do so, she has to figure out the truth. But how can she, when almost everyone she knows has been telling lies?

Guest Post:

Where I see my writing career in five years

Ideally, in five-ish years, I’d love to see myself extremely successful as an author. Multiple series in print, maybe a movie deal, making enough money to truly live off of... lol

But seriously, I’d settle for the latter. It’s my goal and intent to make a career out of writing fantasy romance fiction. Part of being successful in this career, in my mind, involves earning a respectable wage. If I can write a book, or a series of books, that really serve to establish me as a solid and reputable writer, then I’ll certainly be well on my way.

If I did ever get that elusive book-to-movie deal, though, would I quit writing because I’ve found a ‘get rich quick’ fix? Hell no!

I genuinely enjoy writing fiction, and expressing myself through art – even though I’m not always very good at it. There are techniques I’ve yet to master, and I’m fully aware of those shortcomings. Rather than giving up, though, I want to continually learn and improve until I am the best I can possibly be. I want each book to be better than the last. And then, why stop there? Once you’re the best, why not keep publishing bestseller after bestseller? Do it for your loyal readers, breathlessly awaiting on your next new release. Do it because if you weren’t writing, you’d have no idea what else to do with yourself.

Five years from now, I hope I’ll be talking about my flourishing writing career and how incredible it is to look back on articles like these, when my dreams had not yet come true.

But if five years go by, and I’m still cruising along at the same pace as I am now, then I can honestly say that I’ll at least still be happy to be creating fiction. Writing is something I’ve loved to do for, like, fifteen years! Anything that can get that much passion and dedication out of me, is something extremely special, indeed.

And if, by some unfortunate turn of fate, I’m no longer publishing fiction at all, then at least I can say I was brave enough to follow my dreams in the first place. Aside from being a wife and mother, there’s no accomplishment I’m prouder of.
