Blog Tour + Review: Frozen by Christine Amsden @ChristineAmsden

Frozen (Cassie Scot Book Seven)

Apparently, life doesn’t end when you get married.

When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects.

Two of those preschoolers are Cassie’s youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother’s slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.

Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.

No, life doesn’t end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.

My Review:

People are turning up dead and Sheriff Adams calls Cassie in to help out with the case. A couple is found frozen to death in their home. The temp at the home inside and out is freezing but just a few yards away the temp is a warm fifty degrees. This leads everyone to the conclusion that magic was involved but who and why?

Babies are born with a new kind of magic and a lot stronger. Babies that have had their powers bound are slipping out more often and a lot quicker. Cassie’s little brother and sister, twins Michael and Maya, are among the babies that are getting stronger and stronger.

Cassie has her own life to live now with her husband and baby daughter and doesn’t know exactly what is going on at her family’s home with all her little brother and sisters and her mom who has fallen into a deep depression. With her not being around much to help out with the younger ones seventeen-year-old Juliana is left to be a mother to all the other children, Cassie has no idea what is going on with the twins and their magic.

With bodies turning up everywhere and all of the baby’s magic getting stronger is not the only thing Cassie has to worry about hellhounds are also becoming a major problem attacking people as well. Where did the hellhounds come from and why are they here?

Cassie is also having problems on the home front as her husband, Evan is mad at her for something she did but she believed at the time it was her only option if she wanted to live.

I did not realize how much I loved the world of Cassie Scot until I picked up Frozen. I fell in love with all the characters and Cassie’s world all over again and would very much like to see Cassie’s world continue. I so loved seeing the babies involved and would like to see this more often. I also loved seeing family’s in the story like mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandmothers, aunts and so forth.

I am not sure if I had to pick a favorite Cassie Scot book if I could but if I did I think Frozen just may come out on top. But I don’t know as I have loved them all and would recommend all seven books to all fans of magic and the paranormal or not so ParaNormal.

About the Author

Christine Amsden has been writing fantasy and science fiction for as long as she can remember. She loves to write and it is her dream that others will be inspired by this love and by her stories.
