Praise:
Deadly Ground
by Thomas W. Starbuck and Judy Belshe-Toernblom
“Great concept…makes you think. Could history be repeating
itself? Fast read. Anxious for the sequel.”- Peggy Holder, Amazon
“A really good book and definitely a page-turner. I really
liked the characters which is so important to me when I read a book. And the
story really makes you think a lot about the things that are going on around us
throughout the world. This was a different type of book than I normally read,
and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book has something for so many readers’
interests – some fantasy, some romance, some sci-fi. It’s also a quick read.
I’m looking forward to the author’s sequel to ‘Deadly Ground’.”-Tamara, Amazon
Review
Praise Boonville Redemption: The End Of The Beginning by
Judy Belshe-Toernblom
“Unique and wonderful on multiple levels. Told from a dog’s
point of view, the tale of love, betrayal, and ultimate redemption is woven in
a tapestry of beautiful description, colorful history and memorable characters.
Set in the quaint town of Boonville, Anderson Valley, Northern California, the
book resurrects Boontling, the valley-specific, and near- lost language of
Boonville’s earliest settlers. It’s a great read that will draw you into the
quieter, gentler times, captivate you with the lush scenery, prompt you to
curse or cheer the townsfolk of 1800s Boonville.”- J. Helen Elza, Amazon
“A touching story about the good and evil that is part of
the human experience. The characters inspire one to think about forgiveness and
redemption. Very engaging and beautifully written. Loved reading it. So good I
wanted the story to continue!”-Garden Girl, Amazon
My Review:
Deadly Ground by Thomas W. Starbuck and Judy Belshe-Toernblom
A deadly virus has swept through the country killing nearly
everyone in its path. A scientist who works for the CDC in Atlanta was on
vacation when he is called back home to help stop the virus. But the virus is
so deadly that AB and the rest of the scientist don’t even have time to lock
themselves into quarantine. The virus sweeps through the country in a matter of
minutes as the virus is air borne.
AB soon finds himself to be the only living person left
alive. If there are anyone else left out there he has not found them yet. The
first thing AB thinks about after realizing that he is all alone is his one and
only friend Clayton’s dog. AB rushes to his friend’s house to find the little
dog, Winnie. AB and Winnie go on little tour and run into some hardships along
the way, Winnie has a little run in with a big bear.
After he doesn’t find anyone else still alive AB and Winnie
decide to go home and live out their last days. AB is lonelier now than he ever
was when everyone was still alive. AB finds himself and who he truly is in this
dark lonely world and figures out why he has been alone all these years. All AB
wants now is to find someone to love and who will love him back.
Deadly Ground is a very short read one that can be read in
one sitting. Deadly Ground pulls you in until you are so engrossed in the story
that you become lost. AB is a strong person but he shows us that humans need
other humans in their life. He shows us that all of us need to feel love,
kindness and cared for and to feel needed, we not only need to feel these
things but we also need to hear all of these things as well. We also need to
feel appreciated. We need to hear the words “I love you” and “Thank you” and
not just take it for granted that someone just knows how you feel.
I would highly recommend Deadly Ground to all fans of the
apocalyptic, science fiction, aliens with a little romance and loneness thrown
in.
