Caleb, a 17-year-old boy, survived the zombie uprising, but he didn’t come out of the ordeal unscathed. He’s been scarred—both mentally and physically. The rest of humanity is trying to rebuild, to make the world normal again. Caleb is trying to return to a normal life also, but after all he’s seen, after the loss of his family and friends, the transition is difficult. The darkness that led him down a path of self-doubt and self-harm keeps trying to creep back into his mind.

Things only become worse when he discovers he’s immune to whatever makes a zombie a zombie. Fighting zombies was predictable. He knew what to expect. Fighting humans is volatile. They are malicious and treacherous. They won’t stop to get what they want, and Caleb has to figure out exactly what that is.

*Trigger warning: attempted suicide

My Review:

Humanity’s Hope gives a whole new look into the world of zombies. Humanity’s Hope picks up after the zombie apocalypse. Zombies are still running around but they are now contained. The zombies have evolved to a point. Some are now bigger and stronger and can be taught to do small task.

Seventeen year old Caleb has survived the zombie apocalypse but his family and friends did not. Caleb works for Zomtech a company that is trying to find a cure for the zombie virus. Caleb is a computer guy who knows how to hack and doesn’t care about the company and what they are up to. Caleb is only there to bring in a paycheck.

Caleb receives a video showing a girl in his building being attacked by zombies. Someone on the video threatens Caleb and tells him to give them what they want or this zombie attack will not be the last.

Caleb later learns that he is immune to the zombie virus and is being hunted. Caleb has no idea who is hunting him or what they want but intends on finding out before anyone else gets hurt because of him.

Humanity’s Hope is a great introduction into a whole new world of zombies. Humanity’s Hope is unlike any book I have read about zombies before. The world building is so amazing. It will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting and waiting for more. Humanity’s Hope is a very fast paced read. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the Saving Humanity series, Edge of Humanity.

If you are like me and love zombies then you are going to fall in love with Humanity’s Hope. Oh, yes I love me some zombies and can’t seem to get enough of them.

Does being immune to becoming a zombie still make a person human?

Caleb tried to live a normal life after the uprising. He moved into the city, found a home, and worked a job. He yearned for days full of tedium and schedules. Instead, he discovered he was immune to becoming a zombie, and his life was turned upside down.

Fear and uncertainty have replaced normalcy. Caleb no longer knows if his immunity makes him human or something else…something monstrous. He knows who is after him, but to find out what his captors want and what he is, he'll have to play their game and give up his freedom. His sacrifice may or may not lead to the answers he desperately craves.

My Review:

Edge of Humanity picks up right where Humanity’s Hope left off. The people who were after Caleb in Humanity’s Hope finally catch up with him and are holding him captive.

As soon as he finds away he escapes and runs into a few zombies where they have been rounded up and are being held in an old neighbor. Caleb thinks he is safe but is betrayed by someone he never suspected. I never saw that one coming either Caleb.

Caleb is caught and held captive a few times until he finally decides that running was not the answer. They hope to use Caleb to find a cure as he is immune to the zombie virus. Caleb learns how the zombie virus may have been started.

In Edge of Humanity we learn more of Caleb and his family when the zombies first awoke and started walking around. I really enjoyed seeing Caleb with his family during the zombie apocalypse and how they survived. I would like to know more about Caleb and his sister’s adventures fighting zombies.

The world that the author has created for the Saving Humanity series is amazing I love it. It is unlike anything I have ever read. I can’t wait to read more of this world and the zombies and Caleb.

I would highly recommend Edge of Humanity to all lovers of zombies and the apocalyptic world.
