Virtual Book Tour + #Giveaway: The Making of Daisy Hart by Karen Tjebb @KTjebbenAuthor @RABTBookTours

Contemporary Romance
Date Published:  March 2019

Cassie Bowmont had what it took to succeed, at least that’s what she told herself. Hoping a change of pace and new scenery would get her creative juices flowing, she rented a beach cottage in the small town of Avenel where she could dip her pen into the steamy depths of adult romance. She didn’t need or want any distractions to thwart her progress, but she hadn’t counted on Chris Walker. After deciding that he would be a great muse for the hero in her book, she realized that a summer fling with him was just what the Book Gods ordered.

When Chris Walker spotted the small car on the shoulder of the road, his hero complex kicked in. Unable to ignore a damsel in distress, he pulled over to be a knight in a Ford F-150. He stomped through the flooded road and convinced Cassie to follow him to safety. After a goodbye wave in the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly, he figured he’d never see her again, but Fate had other plans. When their paths crossed once more, he paused long enough to notice the delight in her eyes, the playful smirk on her glossy lips, and the determination of her spirit. His heart stuttered. His brain flooded with need, and a crack penetrated the wall around his heart.

They knew the summer was all they’d have but falling for each other was inevitable. The pleasure of lust somehow transformed into the contentment of love. When a jilted lover returns and sabotages their relationship, they must decide if they will be prisoners to the past or sail into their future.

Interview with Author Karen Tjebb

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Making of Daisy Hart?

Cassie Bowmont is a woman with a dream and a plan. A dream that would let her leave behind teaching for her dream job of writing. In order to get her creative juices flowing, she rents a beach cottage in the small town of Avenel where she can dip her pen into the steamy depths of adult romance. She didn’t need or want any distractions, but she hadn’t counted on Chris Walker. Unable to shake him from her mind, she decides that he would be a great muse for the hero in her book.

Chris Walker’s painful past left him jaded and cynical, but it didn’t affect his hero complex. When he spots a small car on the shoulder of the road, he can’t help himself. A damsel was in distress, and he’d be her fleeting hero. When Fate threw them together again, he paused long enough to notice the delight in her eyes, the playful smirk on her glossy lips, and the determination of her spirit. His heart stuttered. His body flooded with need, and a crack penetrated the wall around his heart. Now he just had to claim his Happily Ever After.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?

I am currently working on Dahlia’s Delights, the second book in The Flowers of Avenel series. Dahlia Collins returns to Avenel to run her family’s bakery, Dahlia’s Delights. It doesn’t take long for her to realize that the business if failing. Someone is sabotaging her bakery. She enlists the help of Police Lieutenant Mark Lang. They’d been childhood friends, but the heat between them grows as they narrow the list of suspects and save her bakery.

How long would you say it takes you to write a book?

It takes me about four to six weeks to get a rough draft down. After that, I do several rounds of edits. Then I send my book off to my beta-readers. Once my book is returned with their edits, I go through and add more details to firm up the story. The entire process typically takes me about four months.

What is your favorite childhood book?

I’d have to say The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This book is fantastic on so many levels. Children can enjoy the story because the characters are young and they get to travel to a fantastical world filled with magic and talking animals. Adults can enjoy the story for the symbolism and religious themes that are subtly woven throughout the story. This story opens the door to conversations with children about forgiveness, trust, honesty, integrity, love, and commitment.

If you could spend the day with one of the characters from The Making of Daisy Hart, who would it be?

Chris Walker. What’s not to like about him? His eyes find the goodness in your soul, and his kisses melt over your lips like warm ganache.

What made you want to become a writer?

I’ve always thought it would be cool to write a book. In college, while studying elementary education in my literacy courses, I’d peruse the picture books and nonfiction children’s books and dream about writing my own book. At the time, it seemed impossible, but as the internet expanded and companies like Amazon grew, the dream started to take shape and become a reality. When my twin daughters went to kindergarten, I set aside time each day to dedicate to writing. Surprisingly, the story that unfolded in my head was not for elementary students, but it was better suited for young adults who enjoy supernatural thrillers. When I finished the first series, The Scintillate Series, I transitioned to adult romantic suspense and began The Savage Security Series. Now I’m working on a contemporary romance series, The Flowers of Avenel.
